It’s a catch 22, more run time means more batteries and more weight attached to you. When I did a demo of the Duotone the weight on my waist was annoying but I guess you would get used to it.

I initially thought the Duotone would be great for flat water pump training but the belt bounced a bit while pumping and your legs still fatigued as quick due to the extra weight. I decided on the Foildrive Slim for that purpose.

Wow, your board is so thick, no wonder you didn’t want to add a Gen 2 Max between the mast plate and board. My board is 12mm thick in that location, gives excellent feel and probably less distance than most boards without a Foildrive fitted.

Plenty of prone guys have tried and are VERY good riders and they all felt the difference, if you like all that weight on your board thats cool, this is a conversation about something different not whats better.

Standing start awesome

Hi, I’ve used the FoilDrive Gen1+ standard board mount and also with a homemade waistbelt. I’ve owned the Gen 2, and now use a home-made backpack system.
Moving the battery off the board was a revelation, the board became so responsive that I took a session to get used to it.
I didn’t like the waist belt. The battery always felt like it was slopping around on my hips, no matter how much I tightened the belt.
The backpack is great! I use a standard Camelbak-type plus a waist-leash. It feels like less swing weight because the battery is now in line with my spine, and I barely notice it when using it.
I use webbing to tie the camelback to the waist leash belt because if they stray too far apart then they can pull the battery cable out of the battery pack. The Duotone and FoilDash avoid this by using an integrated battery box and leash attachment.

Had 3 sessions on the Foildash HP battery on a Crest 925, Duotone 38l mid fish, rider 98kgs. Run time easy 45-60min, recharge battery in 1hr or less. Motor power is next level used to chip with my FD and Duotone Assist, can flat water start with Foildash no problem it’s ridiculous. Battery weight is no issue around waist and remote is good. Not having wight on board makes everything more spicy. I don’t think I will





use the FD and Duotone Assist anymore.

Had over 10 sessions everything holding up well. No issues with power cable, leash is great takes the slack when you fall and waist belt does not feel like it’s going to rip you in half. Power is unreal I can get going on a Duotone Crest 675 and Glide 3 700 on flat water on 38l board being 98kgs. Battery box has taken a bit of water a few times everything still works and has not exploded.

I just wanted to be transparent it only got a minimal amount of water “few drops”. I have used pool pump Lube it on the seal and no water after another 7 sessions. It’s such a great system, I have used the other two however not the Takeoff. From what I can see Foildash is using the same motor as Takeoff it’s so powerful, offering you the opportunity to use smaller foils and board. I am keeping my FD as it’s still a great system and very reliable with amazing back up service.

I actually have the takeoff flow with that motor and it’s been amazing, l was going to get a manta backpack but l think the flow will feel to heavy with it. I then saw the price of the foil dash and thought it was worth ago and it serves a different purpose to the flow.

I actually have the takeoff flow with that motor and it’s been amazing. I was thinking of getting the backpack but I think the flow would be too heavy. I then saw the foil dash price and thought l would give that go, so I’m hoping it’s a good system.

Good choice I would probably get the new Duotone mid fish 5ft board, I have the 5’2” using the Crest 800 with PX160 monoblock tail and 84 slim mast. Also been demoing the Glide 3 700 with PX145 very glidey foil and it turns nicely for the aspect . I am 98kgs and have power to burn with the motor Foildash uses, the system is not as fancy or refined as FD however there is minimal board weight which makes a difference in performance, the battery gives me 45min run time and can recharge in around an hour. The battery on your waist is not an issue, remote works great and zip pod does not put the brakes on when it dips. For the price and performance it’s great value and I highly recommend it.

Why was,nt Foil Dash at the AWSI?

Not a 5 minute install haha

I have owned FoilDrive original and gen 2. Quality wise it is a bit better than FD original but not up to current FD standard and that is reflected in the price. It is great value.
Power wise awesome, maintenance free motor awesome, battery is ok not amazing I got 30 mins with heavy use and had 25% left, mast attachment so so, harness ok a quick release would be better, battery box is old school but works. The remote is the same as FD v1 so works but basic. No battery management app so you cannot look after the battery you just guess the charge.
it does the job at a great price point but could be improved especially the mast attachment.
