Back on the thread topic I was always keen for a 12'6 but reading the above I think a 14+ would be better for what I want to do. Wish I could get three boards!


imo, if you can only have one board and you want to do everything including a bit of surfing=14 foot

Are there any stock 14' foot boards with removeable rudders? Or would you need to order a custom?

^ I've yet to see a production board with a removable rudder, so as far as I know you have to go custom which I'd do anyways.

there was talk of being able to do that on the new sic bullet 14' er. not sure if it happened that way

I like the idea of races (bop style) being open to all size boards. Humans aren't made in 1 size so why should bigger people have to be at a disadvantage riding a board that doesn't "fit" them

My DC14 has both a removable rudder system as well as a removable fin system. The intention here was to have the best of both worlds. It proved to be a bit of an overkill for me, however, as I don't do much racing so I hardly ever use the fixed fin system. Still, it is there is I ever need it.

Here is a picture of my early fin system but I do tape up the fin hole when I am not using it.
