Do you think it makes a lot of difference in tippyness or stability when waiting for waves?

Hi Greg,
The deeper the fin the more roll dampening it will produce. If you have multiple short fins, the total surface area may be close to a large single, but it's not the area, it's the depth of a center fin from the bottom at the centerline.
A boards roll axis is its center line, rail located fins are tending to move up & down verticaly & any small fin on the centerline will be all that is tending to dampen the roll.
So the large single fin slows the roll rate to a point where the brain is happier dealing with the input/output....or ballance, it just makes riding the minimal boards a tad easer
Try it... if you have a narrow twitchy board with small fins, wack in the biggest mother ****** you can find....its very noticable.
