I agree Lacey, im riding a 8'10 and 9'0 Naish and love how they stay under my feet, they are light but not super light. Being Light is one thing but it also comes down to having a good shape as well, if thats not there i can see the board lacking drive and failing to project through your turns.. It will always come down to what feels right. Every one surfs different.

Yep! Spot on.

on the subject of weight, i wonder how much a wet deck grip adds compared to say wax or lsd's castor sugar method

Agree totally Lookie, I'm from the windsurfing background originally but have always
surfed over the years, never any good though. My sailboards however had to be
treated with care as they were light and britle, but they worked the best for me.

The custom SUP builders have found a middle ground between weight and durability and
this is where the majority of performance SUP's are coming from. Most guys buying
these boards are aware they won't last forever, but like you said this will change as
more people progress to smaller boards without a performance board history.

I am keen to see how this new Naish range hold up including the 8'10" cos I'm sure they
are being surf hard.

Can I ask how you snapped the board Gooch?

Hi Greenie
I fractured the deck of the board from rail to rail 3feet down from the nose after being dumped on a shore break trying to get out. This is what I assume as I didn't notice it at the time. I had done the same thing time after time on your old board with no problem.....unlucky in this instance.
The board fractured 1 week later in the same spot falling off the face of the wave in lancelin. Frustrated in this instance.

Keen to come up to your neck of the woods some time for a paddle.

Hey Paul J,

From what I have seen the 9'0 Naish is definately the goods and that is coming from a hardened PSH devote'.

Dont think you could go wrong there.

I really like the look of the Naish Nalu 9'6" for that purpose. I'd love to know how the 9'0" goes though?

Hey Paul,

Im loving the 9'0 Naish. Being 26.14 wide it defently is a narrow board for me considering im 90kg with out a wet suit(fat bastard) but im getting used to it. Off the tail it has great drive and so easy to project off the lip, it carry's so much speed and the transition rail to rail fells like a performance Mal. As far as nose riding it still fells easy, i still have had some great tip time and better yet its still does 360s. The only bad part is it keeps taking time away from my time on a 8'10 for me. It defently will be my comp board as an all rounder.

Hey guys, just wanted to confirm I wasn't bagging the stonker--it was just a picture I saw and thought I would share.

I wouldn't know if it was a super light weight customer or a battle axe built to withstand the wars. From what I know they make a good board...............and Phil swears by their custom bags too!

I was really just showing what I thought was a possible issue for those of us who are "denser" than others. LSD has confirmed this might be an issue and that on the boards he is building that he will put a patch in the standing zone for those of us who may need it.

hEY red gaff mandog,
I have been out the water a month prior to last week end.
Jarred my back on my pole machine, flat landings are solid, it's all pop on a windsurfing board you know!
Have not seen my other head mags since PT Macq. We actually live other ends of the peninsula here so we catch up an go surfing know and then. Now I am back I am sure to see him soon, i pass on the regards. What round nose you going to try?
No new boards with me except a 7'8" concept I tried. So far no good, lacks drive with thick rails. Prefer fine railed numbers. May have to lift my game and try and shape some more.
Regards,
Scotty
