i reckon they watch and pick the boards that haven't moved ,knowing the seller is primed for the bait.

They don't actually care what you're selling, or what you're asking.

They target any site that provides classifieds, and sit there for hours typing emails to sellers, offering 10% more than whatever the asking price is (appealling to greed).

To them, it's a numbers game .. 100 emails out .. 5 answer, 2 proceed @ $200 each = $400.

the product means nothing. i thought they might pick the sitting adds-no? otherwise wouldn't every seller on the breeze get this stuff

Yeah, I currently have a Mary Hilson (no doubt a hacked account) who is "currently on the ship due to the nature of (her) work" offering me above the asking price for my gear.

This entity is seeking my PayPal address and my home address.

The email is ridiculously contrived. I had no idea how they planned to scam me with that info now but I'm interested to know the full mechanics of it.

I write about this sort of stuff for a living. Could make a good story.

I had a guy offer me $300 more than asking for an ocean racing ski. Sounded suss straight away when he didn't even see the ski or ask about it. Same story about using Paypal and an agent will pick it up as he was in Dawin (couldn't even spell correct) His email was [email protected]

at least you getting some interest in your board.....the second hand market has gone to hell.....good if your buying

I just sold seven boards in two weeks via Seabreeze classifieds. The second hand market worked well for me.

That's great for you Casso, however I bet you don't pay full retail so that's why you have so many boards and off load them at will.

Sorry the second hand market is crap!

I guess it depends on what money your prepared to lose between cost price and sell price.
I have two snapped boards [had them fixed] sitting under the house that I'll never be able to move on but in the surf **** happens.
If you pay $1700 for a board and get around $1000 12 months or so later after plenty of use and hopefully enjoyment then thats not bad IMO considering the enviroment its been taken into.
If you buy something and hardly use it and then want to sell it maybe its more a case of bad choice[Iv'e done this myself way to many times],
Cheers.

Not too many boards 12 months old that have had plenty of use getting $1000 or $900 or even $800.......
