Just get one. I think these boards go well - make sure you move the back fin up as far as you can and ensure that you plant your back foot as far back as possible for big turns and you will be fine. You will have loads of fun on one of these and then can report back to Doggie about it. I think you two will get on like a house on fire.

That was a nice board, The guy has decided to hold onto it for a mate.

Oh well i think i am better suited for a hukua anyway.

Just waiting on photos of a C4 9'6 could be a good choice.

One or the other anyway

You guys in NZ can you please take Boring Pauline under your wing and sort him out with a board please, I think there would be so many fellow sup'ers who would really appreciate your kindness helping this lost sole of a brother out.

When i get a hold of kagey, I might make a trip to auckland and rob his local shop of demo boards. I have fallen in love though with the new c4 9'6 sub vector

Buggered if i can work out where c4 place the 9'3 vs 9'6

Hey BP.. Here's an interesting story from DK.

DJ

"Just last weekend I was surfing with a friend I had not seen in awhile. He surfs the 9'3 Sub Vector. He's been SUPing about 2 years and has surfed his whole life. But that day he was flopping like a dead fish. He was falling so often, he'd have to sit in the line-up and rest while waiting for some waves.

I paddled over to him to catch up and find out what's up. He had gained 30 lbs over the Winter. He was now 230 lbs and the Sub Vector had become too unstable for him. Last season he was doing fine on it.

So I offered my 9'5 Mana to him. He was surprised at how much more stable it was. He said it was a completely different board. Completely different in a good way, because he put his board up for sale on Craig's List 2 hours later and ordered the 9'5 Mana."

I don't think so.. btw.. I had a great day today on my 8'12" with Dean at Pt Danger..

My 9'0" is yellow but not a Naish.. It's the only wave board that I have right now.. and todays surf washed all the dust off it..

Nice, i am going to get a C4 im just deciding in 9'3 vs the new 9'6

DJ i am 200lbs so a bit lighter than that fellow

I do prefer a board with a verry much pulled on nose as the surf here is chop a lot of the time and closes out a lot.

have you thought about a step rail board- plenty of float, shorter sup performance. would be worth looking into
cheers

I've got a 9'5 Mana and have been thinking about a stepped rail board as the next progression. I know stability is much more than float and i'm not sure I'm ready to give up the all the width and the rounded nose yet. Which leads to 2 questions;

1. For a steped rail board, what is optimum/max width?

2. How much round in the nose can you leave with a stepped rail board.

Cheers

Round nose v's Pulled in nose is bull**** IMO...also in George Greenoughs opinion and Kelly and Al Merricks opinion...I know none of them are known for thir SUP skills but they know more about shaping then most......

but, i'm enjoying this. don't look at those earlier step decked boards. there is a newer wave of step boards around with chris garrett kicking them off at the goldie and now dale looks like he will be doing a few too
cheers
