Hey Phill, The 8'10" will be there but I'm not sure about the 8'0".
It starts at 10am, see original post for details. Will be good to see you there!

DJ, Shoreham is the name of the town, Pines is the break. We have to use the name Shoreham so people can find the place as The Pines isn't in the Street Directory.

I guess, it's a cluster of houses in between the cluster of houses at Pt Leo and Flinders.
It has it's own postcode. As long as people know where to go we can call it a colony!

Here's a better map.

www.whereis.com/vic/shoreham-3916/14-beach-rd?id=B6BE7A952C06F

If you use a GPS the address is:

Beach Road, Shoreham, Victoria

Beach Rd is at the bottom of the dip in the 90k zone.

High tide is around midday and the reef is pretty much bare two hours before and after so if you want to surf at the Pines you need to be there between 10:00 and 2:00.

Hi DJ,

A big thank you for you assistance the other day with the paddling vest.

I really appreciate your thoughts and input.

I will be bringing the kids as well. We would love to get Kristi on the 8,10 but I would really like to see her on the 8,0.

Best regards

Hey Mac,

Its is an Imperial 8'9 x 25 x 3 1/16.

And she loves it.

We just want to see how she goes on an inch wider board that is a little shorter.

We like the look of the 8 fter,

Yeah the day was planned around the tides. You would know this Gorgo but for others that don't know tide is critical down there as the wave heights can vary up to 3ft between high and low tides.

Tomorrow SHQ will provide a full list of boards that will be available to demo on the day.

I'm planning to come on Sunday, to demo a few boards... sounds like it's going to be a great day!

however I also want to try a board test with a difference....

My new work car is a Toyota Prius (yeah I know I can hear you laughing ) and I don't think work will allow me to put on a set of roof racks.... my Starboard 12'6"will stick out a bit :)

So I want to find a board, floaty enough for a 90kg person that will fit in the inside of my work car...

At the moment I can fit a mini mal surfboard (8'6") with room to spare and if I go windsurfing I can fit two sailboards (Carve 122/FSW101) in with masts booms and sails etc....

For it's size it has room but the question is will it be roomy enough for a SUP????

Any suggestions on what to try on Sunday will be appreciated.

Cheers
Rick

PS I would mainly use this SUP for down the coast in the waves

I'll be there to try a few SUPs and I'll have my biggest fin handy.

I have a 2000 Subaru Outback and I can fit a Naish 9'6" inside. I put it in fins down with the nose resting on the dash.

The width and thickness of SUP make it difficult to put the board anywhere else. You can't put the nose down in the wheel well. You might be able to remove the fins and put the board in tail first. I haven't tried that because it defeats the purpose of being able to pop the board into the car.

I am going to check out the Naish Mana 9'5" and I am also considering a custom board.

The Mana is 31" wide and that is pushing the limit of what will fit inside my car and still be reasonably safe to drive. It's a tad claustrophobic having this big slab of a board next to my shoulder as I drive.

Thanks for the response

Gorgo, That sounds positive for the Prius...

Tux, 4 sups on softracks is impressive! I have the FCS soft racks and they are great for surfboards and sailboards... only tried once for the SUP on the old work car, Holden (longer and wider roof than Prius), and there was a bit of movement with softracks, especially when doing more than 80 km/hr ....

SHQ have hired a huge truck to bring all the boards down on Sunday.. BTW .. The weather is looking perfect..

Luke should arrive about 10am with the boards.. Jonathan and I should be there by about 8.30-9am.

If you intend demoing a board and you already have your own paddle and leggie bring it along.. It just makes things easier if you use your own paddle and leg rope.

You are also welcome to demo one of the new Balin leggies that are half coiled.

See ya there.
