For it to get to Olympic level though "rules and regulations" need to be defined. Olympics is all about creating a level playing field and finding the fastest, strongest greatest.

Obviously everyone of us could see sprint races on the rowing course (which I would find more interesting than rowing as balance comes a huge part of it and there would be spills as people push the limits of power and balance)

Would be great to also see a marathon race and as my wife is about to produce a boy child ill have him training to be the youngest ever SUP racer at the Olympics.

My two cents from a newbee

How about leaving boad sizes alone and use the size of the paddle as a means to handicap people of varying sizes? Would a 4 inch wide paddle depower a lightweight? The area of a paddle would be a lot easier to measure than a board. You could use something similar to the way the airlines determine whether your hand luggage is acceptable.

The only sup racing rule that I'd like to see is the 'no whinging' rule.

Paddle what you've got.. Big guys paddle bigger boards.. (if they want to).. Small people paddle smaller boards.. (if they want to).. Girls paddle pink boards.. (if they want to).. Those who like dug-outs.. Go for it.. Those who want to paddle surf shapes.. Go for it.

And remember.. No whinging..

How easy is that.. It's just a sup race.. It's not the Olympics.. (yet)..

thats exactly what we do at Scotts Head race Dj, paddle what you want! I may give a head start to some one on a surf sup though hope to see you a bit warmer than Vico plus I want to see the camera mount and the bike 11km of beach to test it out

Speaking of which... I wonder what would happen if you put a little helium mix into an inflatable race board?

clearly this would be "Performance enhanced inflation"

I have seen a 21 inch wide tiller equipped unlimited missile being used on the sunshine coast recently.... apparently as quick as a K1. . . there were two very quick padflers testing.... cant say anymore, prob given it away as it is! its all about the outright win :)

Another mutant maybe? Below is Kelly on a DC mutant (old prone unlimited) circa '09 at the Malfunction race i think

From memory Kelly won the race and it was the ugliest board Eva..It looked like they dug the deck out an old Molokai prone board with an axe...but yes it was fast and Kelly was probably at that time the only person that could stand on it.
