This is pretty close to the colours of the old girl I had ..... ran on the smell of an oily rag hardly ever filled the oil up either , just kept going & going the old champion

..... that night at Chidley , I'd been out at a show in Freo and hooked up with this chick from Nedlands ..... thought I was the Duck's nuts pashing on with a Mercedes College chick .... it got late & she didn't want to go home & face Dad sort of thing and I knew a good spot so anyway it got a bit steamy .... the old EK was rockin' ..... and the farken handbrake gave way ..... always was a bit dodgy the farker .... the old girl hurtled backwards through these wooden bollards smashed them like toothpicks .... all the way down into the sand and buried her arse end up to the lights fark halfway down I was just waiting for the splash of the river tried to get her out of the sand but she was bogged in proper but the silver lining was the Neddies chick was giggling her titties off so it was back to business & we slept there

You've seen them all before, but I may as well put them all in this thread .

This ones got nothing to do with surfing, I just think the chic looks really good.

Drove one of these from Margaret river to Perth to Albany to Esperence to Norseman, across the Nullabor sitting on 140km to Bordertown to Cactus to Boulders to Adelaide. Replaced a waterpump, off to Beach Port to Port Fairy to Port Campbell to Apollo Bay to Melbourne & back...bloody good surf beasts, thirsty on petrol though...but so good to sleep on one side with the board on the other

Perth petrol was about 65c, Margs about 80c & the Nullabor was about $1.10...must be bloody expensive now!

Saw a beautiful VW Combi in a delicious blue / green this morning at the Servo. I definitely had a bit of van envy - but then when he started it up and took off it reminded me why I like the new more modern versions with air con, suspension and an engine that will get you up a hill at 100km not one that drops your speed back down to 40km! Still it was a very nice example.

Wind Surfing Blokes tend to have pretty nice roomy surf vehicles. There was a bloke that lived next door to my old man that had an old ambulance from Qld, but only used it for wind surfing trips coz of how thirsty it was. Was funny, he used to use the spare bedroom of his flat to make his own boards. But yeah, wind surfing guys always seem to have a fully decked out van, truck or bus. Bloke teaching me has one of these with solar panels. Pretty bloody impressive when he rolls up

They're called an OKa, apprently the army use/used them too. Saw something on the news recently about how the army were building something new though. Merican looking, but built locally which was good to hear. Hopefully those submarines end up getting built local too. People need jobs or the bloody government are going to start shafting us a 15% GST. Cut down on government expenses I say, like Bronwyns party on dude hellicopter rides & free 1st class interstate flights for their kiddies at the very least...but I digress...

Yep you are right ted the old kombis are rough as , die up the hills , are shocking in the wind with the aerodynamics of a brick , terrible fuel economy . But

they make great surf cars , especially here in tassie on the real cold windy days it's great to have a mobile change room .

heres a few of mine just removed bit of rust and repainted her . My 9 foot boards fit nicely in the back with the rock n roll bed down .

Al G an old mate of mine had an old splitty with a chev motor in it . Reckons it used to do 100 mph uphill . Sadly back in the 70 s he pulled out the motor and sold the Kombi for scrap metal .

Not practical but cool. I'm a Kombi fan, when I had one it was close to the ultimate, had it up tracks that I'd never thought it would go along beaches further than I'd thought I'd get, but always wanted something quicker.
