Cool story bro, won't fix the setup that is keeping you from learning the basics of foiling but whatever. Maybe try a support group for validation instead of a technical forum.

Here is nearly your answer, I was using a RRD 122 X-Fire in half of this video (which is close enough to the X-fire 129)

I had learned to wind foil on that board with a tuttle box & NP Pinkie foil, then I had a local guy install twin tracks and inboard foot strap positions. I then used a Naish foil for a while. Having the twin tracks is essential for all foiling unless you're into racing and that's a whole other thing.

That was 4+ years ago and have tested dozens of set ups and although the X-fire got be from point A to point B I wouldn't go back to that shape and original foot strap positions etc.

The extra rocker and volume in front of the mast track creates too much drag and once you dial in a board like the Slingshot Wizard with twin tracks its night and day difference. Also in this video I had a Naish Hover 142, that board was also waaaaay to long and had unnecessary swing weight now that I look back, but it did have twin tracks and it served a purpose until the short and less swing weight boards arrived on the scene.

The most common crash I see with experienced foilers, even the pros, on short foil specific boards is they catch the nose on a wave/swell, that does not happen with me and my slalom board.

The pros are crashing because they are riding harder in much bigger conditions than you.
If they rode their equipment how you ride yours they wouldn't be crashing. They also wouldn't be carving swell, doing 360s or even gybing.

I think of myself as a somewhat experienced foiler. Catching a nose is not a "thing" even with a 195cm board. I do foil out on a swell about once every four-five sessions in big (25kt) conditions and take a nose dive. My slalom board I used prior did the same thing except it gave my mast a much bigger target when everything went sideways.

210cm board at 30 kts


But go ahead and get the RRD - that's the answer you are looking for. The wood sandwich construction is relatively easy to repair as I've helped my friend with one repair it a couple of times.

Seriously, Sandman - Sandy Point is adding Tabou to their lineup and the Fifty sounds like exactly what you're looking for -50/50 foil/fin, light and longish. It'll cost three times what the RRD would but I bet you'll be much happier with it.
