Can you tell I am very happy with my new toy? Even happier that someone mentioned in a previous post that the GO is capable of 30 Knots lol.

And if someone wants to pay me to recommend the GO, all funds can be made payable to the 'OceanBlue64 New Windsurfing Equipment Fund'

I'm sure that a GO could do 30kts......too fast for me though!!!

Yeah you have to take it out in the waves first for that to happen

hi there knuckle and all,

to add my 2 cents worth as a 3 months at it beginner, admitedly with years of dingy and catamaran sailing time, not that many of those skills are any real use to windsurfing except sail control, i bought a cheap 20 year old long board with a centre board and spent 3 months on that, probly 30 - 40 hours sailing, and found myself quickly wanting to ugrade to a more responsive board.

sounds like your at a similar stage

so asking around various people and reading a bit, i figured 120 - 160 litres would be a good range to look at for me at 68 kilos, so off to melbournes 2 only sailboard shops (i think) and got 2 completely different suggestions. having given them the same story of where im at in experience, 1 suggested the starboard go 155 litre for its stability and learner friendlines and the other shop suggested around 120 litres would be fine
and i wouldnt grow out of it.

so in the end unsure of what to do, i test rode a demo 120l jp excite ride. got on it, uphauled it and off i went. admittedly i was a little wobbly uphauling but no major dramas, and only fell in once during the test ride, and in 1 decent windy day out since i picked it up, ive progressed easily, with only a handfull of spills.

so i went with the jp 120 in the end, happy that i think it will do alot of different things for a long time, and it turns out its really easy to ride and it flies.

now as stated by others above, thats not to say that wide boards arn't a good thing, ive seen plenty of good sailors carving and flying across the water on go's and simmilar boards, and they do seem to hold their value real well, so selling its always an option, not to mention as a good light wind board/second board and 1 to stick ya friends on who cant sail. guess it just depends on what your priorities are. but i guess at your weight a not so wide 100 to 120 litre board will still be ok for you, so long as its around 65-70 cms wide at least.

and with sails, having just dented a panel on on 1 of my good second hand sails with my harness hook, the advice from above to buy good 2/3 year old sails is probly a good one

mr love: No, I don't work for the Holderns. Housing prices went stupid
here a year ago, and I had to compromise where I wanted to live.
If I had my way, I would be living much closer to the beaches ;)

Thanks all. I'll be trawling through the buy/sell section and buying my
stuff slowly over the next few weeks. I brought a house 6 months ago,
and I have been recovering from that.
