The BOM wind forecast for Green Island looks amazing! Is any of it happening?

I'm not going to blame my gear for the wacked out session. Because it was fun, success.
It will be 'the right stuff' at Jimmie's Beach, but this is a tad windier.
I was hanging on with front hand only after gust blasted backhand off, not game to hook in, but strapped in on the feet, going wherever the fangy wanted, which was mostly either shooting up into rocks, or launching me into dangerous downwind - aiming at beach type scenario as above.
I'm 65kg - sail 6.4 SLW 165

Pretty much one bolt only holding the fangy, stripped the other.
Living way dangerously here

I claim the pirates operating to mill that made the ferrules had one too many bubblegums.

I cross threaded it somehow at home before getting wet.

On Island, rigging up alone in paradise with my new kit ready to hit it, half confident I won't get blown off the Island and to sea, and then disaster strikes in the picnic area as the ferrule let's go.

I wasn't really prepared to sail here, I know that. But fark it, this was my day.
One screw did the job.

The box is ticked. Didn't loose fangy. A successful voyage.
It wasn't a totally enjoyable sailing experience, more a twisted kind of pleasurable one to take it on which I'll never forget.
That place is something else.

Can't help a cross threader. It's a standard 12 mm ferrule not the smaller 9 mm. What size is in your old dodgy fin ?

9mm in old fin.
Screw bottom of screw thread bit dodgy.
That is probably not helping me.

I'm hoping for an excuse to just sit on beach.
It's such a lovely beach.

Had no tools, figured I had one shot while frothing at the mouth to try the gang so drove her in.
I was surprised the screwdriver didn't snap actually.

Screw all the way through.
Reversed the ferrule. No good.

Small one might be better than none.
1 and a half screws should work, I survived with one only yesterday but probably won't ouch it again, it's shallow. Could probs find fangy if it comes adrift but won't be much fun.

It's the screw.
It is going into the new ferrule dodgy from the start because of flattened screw thread at bottom of screw.

These are all questions that need to be asked.

I blame old mate across the road that cut screws for me.
An amazing builder who could judge 1mm with his eye no worries.
But he squashed screw thread in vice i reckon.

All good - mission success.
I will get some more screws and barrel nuts.
It worked with 9mm donor nut for Green Island mission.

Fangy got me where i wanted to go. It was glorious.

Luckily for me, wind backed off and i got a good go at it.
First time coming up onto the plane, a big ray went with me under the nose - ecstatic.

I struggled to push it downwind somewhat, but was getting closer in the end. Really hard if i put back foot in strap, much easier if sailed with back foot out.
