How can I reduce getting catapulted?

Well it worked!
I changed my harness lines to adjustable ones and lowered the boom slightly.Even though it was not as windy,I felt much more in control and seemed to have time to adjust before going over the handlebars.i may have gone too far the other way though as there definitely is a sweet spot for various wind strengths.I guess I will just adjust the lines and boom height on the day to suit the wind.
One more question,can someone tell me how much a modern 430 mast and adjustable al boom should weigh approx? I am wondering whether my older gear is way heavy compared to newer stuff.

I just got a severne blue line mast 75% carbon & it weighs 1.75kg.
thats what it says on it.
booms, i need a new 1 so not shore. my ali 1 is kinda heavy.

Someone told me that carbon booms weigh about the same but are stiffer and stronger..?
