BTW why didn't you order something more durable, like an Ezzy?? The Hellcat is an all monofilm sail, isn't it?

hey Gestalt, can you let me know where to pick up sails in that price range new off the shelf? The best I can see in my neck of the woods for a 5-6m 07' sail is $600 07'. $300 would be way better.

maybe you guys should try aerotech in hongkong, not exactly the best sails but full grid and one if not the most inexpensive sails on the market

I have a few Aerotech Charges, and reckon for my mediocre ability they are great. Well built, good wind range, and I'm waiting for some extra $ to buy another one (off seabreeze buy/sell of course).

Hi Timford. no worries. but you did say under $1000 for 2 sails that are 1-2 years old new. so that means anything from 06 onwards. 09 is not out yet.

so that equate to less than $500 for each sail new. ofcourse you can get new 06 sails for around $400 so you should be ok.

to start with check out.....

KA Sails 10% off 08 stock and 20-30% off 07 and 06 stock. (this website is not quite finished yet as some links aren't yet online but majority of it is working)

now, i am certain that the majority of the shops do similar deals. even though some of them don't advertise their prices on the net (particularly the WA shops but also some of the east coast shops). you should phone them.

for an almost complete list of shops online refer to this list.

www.windwanderers.com/Links.html

as you can see though it is very possible. so time to get out the credit card.

Because I like the neilpryde designs better...besides, there's no need for an x-ply sail in singapore's conditions...it's heavier too.

Still cheaper than a smack habbit or theropy from not sailing at all.

Can you let me know? I like the idea of the sail but have only really found marketing feedback on them.

Yeah sure! But like what Gestalt said, I don't think you can really go wrong with NP. As I quote a friend "get the Hellcat, no regrets!"

yeah and to put it into context you can't really go wrong with most of the sail manufacturers these days. severne, ka, gaastra, loft and on and on except for price or buying something that doesn't suit your masts

top tips, most of our kit(s) is Pryde. seems like a plan to carry on that way.

hi willy,

the KA Koyote is all xply, plus it's done 40+ knots. no need to buy ezzy anymore mate. and it works in a fairly good range of masts i believe. [}:)]

flame suit on.

KA,Powerex or Pryde. the thing with the koyote is they are not as mast specific as some brands of sail well that is what i have been advised.

i am sure though there are others on this forum that are more qualified to comment and have the real testing experience???????

The Koyote will run fine on any of the true Constant Curve masts . Gesalt mentioned a few . The KA , Severne and Powerex are three I personally know are fine , but I assume both Gun , Ezzy and Sailworks to be good as well . The Pryde is OK but probably slightly less ideal being a bit more flex top. Fiberspar also most likely OK but a bit more hard top . Gaastra and Maui Sails are probably less than ideal as they are hard top masts .
The Koyote has pretty moderate luff curve making it less mast sensitive than Slalom / Race sails .
I run my 5.3 on a Powerex Skinny and it works a treat, love it .
