No Haircut
Just when I was going to go forward all costs I injured my leg and the wind stopped plus my grandmother's car ran out of methane and there was a solar eclipse during a severe lightning storm.I would have gone out if the wind had held.Did manage some crazy air time and some backloop crashes after making it around.I wonder if this WE may present some opportunities.
What the hell is happening with this wind? Its 25knots then 5.Must be just the squalls.I was hoping for the early at Kirra but maybe SUN.I will be keeping my eye on Narrowneck.A few bumps around so may be fun.Narrowneck tends to have good wind in a N/NE as it runs down the beach.

Hi Rustle. Yep, still around. Been a bit quiet, focussing on an evil plan to conquer the world. I get bored when i dont windsurf.
Not sure on flatrock on sunday. Wind looks too west. Monday the wind is looking better, but can you handle 9ft sets down that way? We mortals are not as fit as you Maui types.
The wind and waves in front of my house have doubled in the last half hour.

How do you get to NarrowNeck?

I'm hanging for that location guide at WindWanderers to be put up so that I don't have to ask such silly questions all the time

i ruptured my eardrum at kirra on saturday. I was still going to come up but it was feeling a bit uncomfortable so i gave it a miss. Hopefully have a sail at shearwater tomorrow. I just got to buy some better sealing earplugs from somewhere.

looks like you had better wind today than last weekend?!

hi gestalt, sailed at bells with lookkc today, gusty but great day on the water, plenty of short sharp ramps for air also helped up by the near 30knt gusts, direction wsw to w, sailing from near rockwall and kids playground heading out towards port of bne, same as photos kerry sent you, basicly same today as then, should try it sometime, play ground for kids bbq toilets big open park for anyone who wants to try land sailing, check boms current obs for redcliffe highest gusts to 33kts.

if yr still comming up to reddy on monday, try suttons or queens bch north, if there is more s thly then suttons is the go if more se in it queens bch nth is better cheers

Hey Haircut
I have heard sorry the pun of aircraft equalising ear protectors. They actually adjust for the change in altitude and cabin pressure.Perfect for a perforated eardrum .Sorry I can't remember the name but a google should sort it.Failing that I use a swimming ear plug which is not recommended for the surf as pressure may be too great and it may be forced permanently into the interior of your empty scon but hey we are not supposed to be reasonable as we are addicted to knot play.

Vando said it the best, what a cracker of a day! Ask him what his top speed was on that Warp Speed

One wind meter said 30 knots in the gusts, another said 20 so split the difference and say 25. All I know is that I was overpowered at times on a 5.0, sheeted out and still tailwalking so the wind must have been pretty reasonable...

More war injuries though, catapulted heavily and smashed the nose of my board after about 30 mins in the water, fixed it with some epoxy so all good. Then at the end of the day my 5.0 broke the strap that connects the sail to the mast plug. I really need some new gear...

But it was fun

hey haircut,
how much wind did you guys get.

i went out at queens beach, redcliffe on the formula gear with an 8.5

was totally out of control, hook in and then un-hooked due to fear of death.. chicken strap didn't help either.... did 4 runs and called it a day. the swell was the killer, not big but big enough.

thinking it was between 15-20 knots.

Hey Gestalt,

You are completely and utterly, 100%, totally INSANE! Crikey, 8.5? Maybe if it was a kite! Wow, that's hardcore, and what I would consider GOING BIG

Haircut, good to hear that you got out today, how long will it take your ear to heal? Is your balance out?

Might get out to Shearwater tomorrow, depends on how early I get things done in the morning. Possibly see you there tomorrow!

Gestalt - the wind was between 15 and possibly 25 knots at times. I had a 5.6 depowered at times. When i first went out i could have easily used a 4.5

Hopefully see you tomorrow Nebs

Nah I'll bet Haircut's just after some kiter chicks.

Ok Mike how quick, i've checked GPS speedsailing and Al's page and nothing yet. You had some good conditions and warpy so anything less than 39 wont impress me

i was just Elizabeth b8-ting get-it get-it get-it to see if u were monitoring my activities

actually, the windsurfing forums are so well behaved that we are sometimes forced to cross over and read some kite posts for therapy

reading the kite forum i've become very edjikated and have realised that kiting is a very socially and mentally complex sport. I now know that;

- kiting using bindings is coolest
- kiting using straps is questionable
- sending the kite before crashing is extremely questionable
- dingle dangle is questionable
- deadmen are questionable
- leashes are questionable
- kiting at currumbin is questionable
- board offs are questionable
- bows are for oldmen and c's are for radical trendsetters
- kiting unhooked is koolest
- 9 oclock is radical

i'm now an expert

the most difficult thing about windsurfing is deciding cams or no-cams

i think you goldy guys certainly got more wind than redcliffe..

nebbian,

i was watched by 300 seaguls and a dodo..

a better sailor would have been able to do it... looks like more practice. i've seen guys use 10.5m sails in the same wind strength.

now they are hard to da core.
