yep, flat water,

if you head into the channel between vici point and coochi it gets pretty bumpy but the wind needs to be against the tide...

if it stays southerly it would be better for speed sailing. SE means more of a beam reach..

Pat the problem is the tide, can maybe head down there at 1.30ish then by the time rigged up etc there hopefully will be enough water. Mike may be down later too. Pat have you still got harness lines?

Looking at the refidex there appears to be parks at both ends of thompson esp. so is it the North park or south park?

Yeah it's been a bit like that, Mike and I went out yesterday arvo and struggled in the rain(well mike was reasonably powered up I was on smaller gear). Must remember to wear sunnies next time it rains so i can open my eyes

ok guys,

it's on again. same place. thursday 2/03/06
i'll prob get there at 10am.
forecast is 20-25 knots.
high tide is 2.5m @ 11.25am which is half meter higher than last week.

MKseven, low tide is at 6.00pm would be worth a sniff to see just how flat it can get. last week when i got there early it was dead flat.

Padi, you still keen?

just to let you guys know it has been so windy because i bought the big gear. Huey is now punishing me with strong winds..

the good news is i may have just bought even bigger gear so it should get even windier..

next i will sell all my small gear. that should give us another month of cyclonic winds.[}:)]

Hi Gestalt I carnt get there much before 4.00pm is that going to be too late for any flat water.I looked at the tides and it going to be a 0.2M tide at 5.00, that's low.
If its that low there might even be a good flat water run at wello between the beacons, banks either side but you need a bit of local knowledge where you can an carnt sail.
maybe wello wed and Vicky point thur.

hi Vando

last week i got there 4 hours before high tide and it was flat. by 3 hours before high it was just starting to get bumpy,

i have never sailed there on low tide but i think 4pm should be ok.

the only prob will be if at low tide there is not enough water. there are 2 sand banks that stop the chop from building. one is at a very good angle and the other is ok. plus at real low tide you will have to walk through a bit of mud but i don't think it is as bad as wello.
just guessing but there is a boat moored in the channel so there must be water at low tide? if you get a hold of the satelite photos i sent Drjukka you will see the channels. i am keen to see how it holds up with a 0.2m tide height.

Thanks Gestalt Drjukka sent me the pics, are those banks exposed at low tide. Wello's not that bad on the eastern side at low tide only 30m walk.I might even look at lota creek one day it might work in 30+knots. Forcast looks unreal at this stage think i might have to quit work for this week LOL.
mk7 are you on holidays this week.

i went down today at 5pm.... low tide almost.

there was water there and the banks are exposed.

given the wind forecast.[}:)] you should be motoring.

you wouldn't believe my luck that i am on holidays till the end of the week and have been for 2 weeks prior.. i will now take all future holidays around february.

Mike no one more week of work then holidays. I need to see Vicky point at low tide cause the way explained to me last week seems that it is a little difficult getting into that area and you dont have much run off room?

Hell Mike you want flat water you could even run from the end of the boat passage at low tide on a strong NE, again you'd probably need a boat to get in there but the bank runs in the same direction as wello but the wind is alot cleaner, SE at dead low would probably work good too I know it can get a bit choppy further up in the SEers.

The problem you do have with running in creeks etc is you really really dont want to fall in

Padi, I sailed there today between 1:30 & 4:00pm. Found some flat water and had a reasonable sail with some good runs despite the huge holes. Unfortunately my previously unblemished custom fin is now blemished. My near new X6 mast shed some more carbon from near the ferrule, and the car sure is a long way from the water's edge at low tide.

Hi guys well finally had run at wello today.
nothing great 15-20 knots with one massive squall at 30+ knots come through. I had a 6.0 up min downhaul had no chance holding it.
by the time I made some adjustments it was gone.
There was some flatter water today with the tide being so low.
Hope for better wind tom.
