Ringworm is a type of Tinea. Infection can come from many sources but swimming would be unlikely. Direct contact is a more likely source, Can be from contact animals, people, clothing e.g. hats, even shower floors. Seek advice from a medical professional.
Try swimming in water that just had 10 large horses stroll through it with the water up to their backs!, and some days they are going by every 1-2 hours. And I admit, I do like to pet peoples dogs that pass by me, now careful to wash hands afterwards, both horses and dogs can carry ringworm.
