Kym is in Whyalla often for work, lots of kiters sail there, predominantly offshore though! Oh and its shallow

dont worry chris u will get there!! it took me a while to learn the basics because i was self taught. i hav still got a shhiitttt load to learn! but its all worth it. its the best feeling in the world! good luck with it. keep at it aswell! it takes heaps of persistance and heaps of hours in freezing water!!! but still worth it!!

Great to see some SA posts and others keen to get on the water - suns shining and winds picking up. Grandfromage, i have about 12 months casual sailing behind me and also keen to get out with a few of the local guys. I have been sailing around the Aquatic Club.
Not sure of your $$ but Glascraft had a (never used) 2004 150L Bic techno 69cm 283cm for $450 a couple of weeks ago. Specs seem same as 2006/7 - colour is the difference.
Divaldo, I live at Cumberland Park and had kept an eye out for you at Largs a few weeks ago. I noticed a while back you were heading south mid week to check the cows - I have some flexibility for mid week sailing -drop me a PM to catch up for a beer sometime.

I think that the problem with SA and the crew not seeing each other is that everyone sails in many different places!

Theres the Goolwa crew - usually holiday houses down that way, or live down there, Simon, Sam, Linda etc.... us included.

Theres the speed crew on Boggy Lake,

Theres the Metro crew, Largs, Semaphore etc

Theres the Sellicks,Aldinga guys and girls, Susie, Bob, Dean etc

Also Seacliff regulars,

....so what I am saying, plenty of people sailing every weekend or whenever its windy, just all over the place.

I am really keen to get a more consistant social scene happening, also some racing, fun events, family days etc....maybe will have to join Windsurfing SA?

Yeah there used to be a grommet day every few months that a guy at onboard ran. That was great fun, where i learnt most of my sailing skills at the start. Just a whole heap of kids who would get together to have a sail. They all went to kitesurfing and what not so it kinda fell apart i think. I don't know any other young windsurfers in SA.

I prefer the fresh water aswell where you can always stand up if there's a problem. No sharks either.

The Onboard demo day was great though. I've never seen so many guys out in SA before. More things like that would be great. Although even there i didnt see someone remotely close to being under 25.
