Hi mal,

I think for the alpha stuff it would be great if we could play it all back through an applet on the gps team challenge website.

similar to gpsactionreplay.free.fr/index.php?menu=1&choice=4

is this possible.

then we can have virtual reality racing......

cheers
Gestalt.

Sounds good Gestalt, except for one minor problem:

You've got to actually go sailing to have some tracks to replay [}:)]

Yeah, that formula board really opened my eyes... if there's one going cheap I might get it to practice freestyle on! Managed to get going properly backwinded on it, they're pretty much impossible to fall off. Slow as a wet week though

You free this weekend? I think Viccy point if it's southerly?

slow, you should watch yancy then. he is a rocket.

ah formula freestyle. i was standing right there when that happened. got a photo to. i like the way you recovered by making it look like a backwinded sail 360 tack thingy. nice work.

sunday i am free. for VP

i'd also like to head back to bongaree in a few weeks time.

Hi Gestalt, that is a great idea but I am still buried in current developments. Maybe I'll look at something like that in the future.

Talking about current developments, I have been having a lot of trouble in the last two or three weeks to get RealSpeed under control. It has stemmed from trying to get support for multiple files. I got the graphics working OK so you can view multiple files at the same time, but the intricacies of the calculations got the better of me. I basically hit the wall and burnt out from lack of sleep (I still have a full time job going on as well), so a change of approach was required.

To simplify my work, I have decided to provide a "combine Trackpoints" feature that simply combines the files into one new file. This makes the calculation much easier, but still has some gotchas. The big issue was that if you combine two files together that are recorded at the same time and are interwoven, the track points will look like a massive zigzag and render any trackpoint calculation totally meaningless. The doppler however is actually better than one individual file, so I needed to separate the notion of an invalid trackpoint from an invalid doppler value. This seems to be working much better now, but I will continue to test and tweak the code to get it perfect

The other benefit of the multi-file support is that now you can open several files that might have been recorded consecutively, and you can combine them into one file and one result. This is useful if you had inadvertently set the GT11 to create multiple files of a fixed size. I have also added split and sort functions to complete the trackfile editing features.

Another nice feature implemented in 1.909 is the ability to handle multiple sets of divisions. Some calculations can take a long time to run so it is helpful to separate these into different RSP files and only run the calcs you need. this is particularly important when you might wish to have a set of divisions for sailing, and a completely separate set of divisions and options for running or cycling. To do this easily, open the data file you wish to analyse and then open an RSP file with the divisions you wish to apply. Then do a "Save As" and save the divisions and settings to a different rsp file. Now change the divisions in this new rsp to suit your needs. You will then find that both the rsp files (the original and the new one)are listed in the File MRU menu. You can then switch between them with a single click and the current data file stays in place.

2 ways to go, no sorry 3
1/ go to "divisions" and add 1hr and nm
2/ replace "default" in C:\Programs\realspeed 1.9 with the one in your "My Documents" realspeed 1.8
3/ come and get me in the morning.

Hey Hardie,

Try selecting "Doppler" instead of "Trackpoints" when editing the 1 hour division.

Also, here's something Mal wrote when I had similar problems:
1. Set the Division settings to Accumulation Method" to on, "One Result Per
Run" to off, "Use Altitude" to off
2. Set the Options "Stop Run" setting to 0 or 1 knot, Stop Angle to 90, Min
Sats to 5, Max HDOP to 4.
3. Ensure the NM division is for 1852 meters
Then force a recalculate.

All in RealSpeed my good friend, all in Realspeed...

You need to right click on the "Nautical Mile" division, and go "Edit Division" (Or something like that, I can't remember).

This gives you a heap of options to muck around with. Use the settings above for best results... I think!
