Doesn't KA72 already store all files uploaded to be reviewed by anyone that wants to see them? Why tie up GPSTC site with more info already available elsewhere? The brains trust keep saying they don't agree with using KA72 as there are inaccuracies with results but I'm seeing more people say they use this site to upload to GPSTC so where does that leave us? Most seem to be saying they go windsurfing and upload using KA72 and this means NOT pouring over their results on another program like Realspeed to see if there is a problem. How does this keep everything fair? It's not cheating either. It's having fun on the water and throwing up your results.

Can Dylan be contacted to see what can be done about fine tuning his program for everyone to use? This keeps the honesty thing in check as all results are open to see by anyone and can be checked anytime. Also lets us mere mortals see what the good guys do by seeing where they go and what speeds they do.

It saddens me to see inter-team angst. For what it's worth the Board Crazy guys are some of the best Windsurfers Australia has to offer. I highly doubt they post any false info and if anyone would like to question their results I suggest booking a holiday in Brisbane and go for a sail with them. It's a very humbling experience.

To keep it fair would be to have everyone using the same program to post results. So far there seems to be a lot saying KA72. Maybe we all need to work with Dylan to fine tune what's going on and have a common goal.

As an added bonus, as Marty said it also makes available, for public interest, the tracks of good sailors for review by improving sailors. I often download other sailors tracks from KA72 to review on GPS Results and compare to my own for a particular session.

Unfortunately, that is not the case. Errors are not at all always obvious or able to be checked by team captains. Filtering and checking is a big issue.

The issue of making all files available to everyone is tied up with peoples feelings of privacy and should never be compulsory. If a large number choose to do that, as they do now on KA, thats great. We are taking now about implementing a system where all files for posts are uploaded. They would be are either linked to their location on KA72, or uploaded directly to the GPS-TC server for either public view or checking by team captains and those nominated for the job by the committee. Once files are checked that would be flagged as such. After a month or two, files uploaded to the GPSTC server may be deleted as warranted to save storage space so the onus is still on individuals to save their own files somewhere else.

There is a general agreement in the committee that this will go a long way towards addressing most of the issues. Give us some time to work it all out and find a way to implement it.

The best thing about using KA72 to post is that it makes it easy. I can do it from anywhere, I don't have to be at home in front of my computer. If the GPSTC can set up a system that makes it just as simple then well done. The way to get more people posting and involved is to make it as easy as possible to do so. The more rules we have then we end up with different interpretations of them and hence ill will amongst participants. It always been about mateship and windsurfing together, helping out each other with tips, advice and of course some friendly rivalry. I'd hate to see the GPSTC lose any of that.

Ever heard of La Franqui in Southern France Daffy? They do 44 knot NM runs there. Also Southend on Sea in the Thames Estuary just east of London, UK. Both faster spots than Walvis Bay. Not much weed either but big sandbanks. Da Curve in Holland also has a few 40 knot runs behind the sandbar.

The best ones in Australia have been done at Lake George right out the middle if a very large lake, mostly many hundreds of meters from the shoreline. But that is still in very flat water, kept that way by a very fin friendly type of weed right to the water surface! . Likewise there have been some stonking NM's in WA at Albany and Mandurah where weed flat water is again in play and one sails quite some distance from the shore. There are a couple of other places where good NM's have been done in proximity to a sandbar, but not in the high 30's as far as I know. It is very hard to find a sandbar long enough and straight enough with the right amount of wind and angle for top NM's, oh, except for the legendary Walvis Bay in Namibia!

Yep. But only one over 44 at La Franqui though and two over 40 from both Southend and Lake George. Also two just over 40 from Da Curve and one from Walvis bay, but I think Dunky may have done one there as well? All the rest of the 16 40+ Kts NM's are from La Franqui.

Like I said, not a lot of them.

And all of them from only five spots in the world!!
