The advantage of compulsory posting via KA72 is that the file is stored in a public data base and available for review if required.
I was talking about using Ka72 to process the files, mandatory posting is a different matter, some people would still resist this idea although I find it a tad more palatable.
The thing is how would you do it, somehow the GTC site has to know you've posted the correct file to KA72.
I pointed out to Dylan the lack of KA72 filtering in the latest debacle and unfortunately he didn't seem very interested.
I'm not in the business of trying to tell Dylan how to run his website, what he does is entirely up to him.
I believe the filtering is a non issue. Spike or anomalies in results are very obvious and always checked by team captains. The real issue is having a file to back up a result. KA72 provides that functionality.
Unfortunately, that is not the case. Errors are not at all always obvious or able to be checked by team captains. Filtering and checking is a big issue.

As an added bonus, as Marty said it also makes available, for public interest, the tracks of good sailors for review by improving sailors. I often download other sailors tracks from KA72 to review on GPS Results and compare to my own for a particular session.
The issue of making
all files available to
everyone is tied up with peoples feelings of privacy and should never be compulsory. If a large number choose to do that, as they do now on KA, thats great. We are taking now about implementing a system where all files for posts are uploaded. They would be are either linked to their location on KA72, or uploaded directly to the GPS-TC server for
either public view or checking by team captains and those nominated for the job by the committee. Once files are checked that would be flagged as such. After a month or two, files uploaded to the GPSTC server may be deleted as warranted to save storage space so the onus is still on individuals to save their own files somewhere else.
There is a general agreement in the committee that this will go a long way towards addressing most of the issues. Give us some time to work it all out and find a way to implement it.
