I met a 'Duncan' who was an engineer on the wind turbine project a year or 2 ago, if that's him?...sounds like he has the perfect job, following work around the coast to the windiest places doing engineering on the towers. He mentioned he worked at one of the w/surf shops in Melb whilst at uni.

Ha-ha, just remembered, last I heard from him he had 'attempted' to go out in huuuge conditions for a wave sail, after I declined his offer due to 'work' and decreasing aggets (40+kts with a 4.0m from memory), sent me a sms that he got thrashed...hope he's kept up the gutsy attitude.

Fellas I'm a bit of a newbie to wavesailing but feel some guilty delight in reporting that I struck it lucky on Wednesday. Inverloch, 4.5m/80L, off the bar and out in front of the SLSC - sensational. Cross and slightly offshore wind... head-high fast and powerful waves... and I had the place entirely to myself. I had about 2 hrs of awesome down-the-line conditions and nice steep ramps to jump before the wind swung to the WSW and became seriously gusty. It was wasted on me! Highlight of the day was bottom-turning into the mouth of a monster (by my modest standards) and getting cartwheeled - still clutching the boom and with my feet in the straps! All in all, a sinus-soaking humbling flogging of a day that I was ashamed to enjoy alone! Count me in for a flogging anywhere next time.
