I've heard similar refutations on the low end being boosted so I don't think you are wrong there.

Can you clarify your efficiency comment? Is this winging? Or are you saying that you even think the new Silkv2 will be the go-to downwind/parawing foil from here on out? You were a 700/900 enduro guy right?

What stabs are you using ?

The low end of the V1 1050 with 152 is pretty insane. You're basically stopped before it wants to drop off foil.

I have V2 1150 and USurf 150 hopefully coming this week.

I’ve mostly been on the UCarve 140 but the Pure 145 adds more low end. 950 v2 doesn’t have the low end of the 1050 v1 with either of those tails though. I’m getting a 1150 v2 as well and I think that with the pure 145 should be plenty low end for the softest days.




I was kind of hoping for 750 and 950 to cover me for everything but I need something bigger for the low power days. I can make the 950 work with a wing in very light conditions, but I need more low end for the parawing.

It took a couple of weeks but I we are righht now on holiday in Portugal and I was finally able to try my Silk 850v2 with U carve140 (I also have the Usurf 132 but there were no significant really waves).
Set up:
97kg 52y old rider
SuperK V2pro 95l
UHM80mast, short fuse
Vayu Aura3 3m, 3.4 would be better and I saw also guys with 4.5 going allong...so I was a bit on the small size.

Get up and go:
Its hard to say somnething about that in 3m weather imo, but at least as good as the V1, maybe a tiny bit earlier but definitly not less.

Once on the foil going back and forth:
I don,t think they are more technical, but they are definitly faster and more slippy through the water.
Its hard to discribe but te keep it vague...it feels really really smooth,
I,m not a GPS speed chasing guy ans mainly going upwind to ride wavers or bumps DW but noticed my average was above 22km p/h and max speed 35.7 where that is normally 2-3km slower with both average and max.
Styallspeed feels similar.

riding and gliding:
No signifgicant waves, just some maybe waisthigh mush that was crowded with wingers, kiters an windsurfers, sdo catched a few and went further out just to ride the swell.
On the waves, there was no really pressure/lift difference and no issues with turbulent water. Further out in the wind mixxed with ocean swell of waist to chest high I had a blast. the 850 V2 turns at leasat as good as the V1 while feeling again smoother and more fluid. It keeps more speed, glides through sections where I am 100% sure that the V1 gets of foil and pumps waaaaaaay better from section to section, but also easily overtaken waves.

Overall:
I loved the V1 and still think they are really good foils that can compete with a lot of the current competition, but the V2 are imo just better without any downsides.
I ordered the 1050 V2 as well and if the 1050 is similar to the 850 I,m gonna sell my V1,s that till now are by far my fave foils.
Givven my weight and conditions I see no need for going smaller then the 850. I owned an Enduro 700 for a while (we couldnt get along) but what I was looking for in that foil, mainly more glide I found in the Silk V2 with better control and tunring.

Update:
I used on my holiday trip in Portugal the 850 with the U Surf 135 and 3m wingfoil wing 5 days in a row with side off shoulder to overhead high wave (faces) as well while riding in the back on the bigger Ocean swell.
From my point of view its faster and more glide and as turny as the V1 but feels to me also slightly bigger.
This could be down to the conditions, but I never felt overfoild with the V1 while I have been for moments with the 850 V2.
I,m pretty sure that back home the 850 V2 is small enough because our windswell waves at the Northsea are not as fast as the Ocean swell waves in Portugal, but If I would live here our would come more frequently I would get an 750, because I THINK (haven,t tried it) that the 750 is in range closer to what the 850 V1 covers for me.
Nuking days like in the Gorge that are still sailable are rare in the netherlands, too rare to justify an 650 like Brian can use more frequently...but seii a good use case for the 750 for me
As written in the AFS stab thread: I love the combo with the U-surf135, and serious considdering getting the U-120 as well.

I have the feeling that if i use a more pumpable foil wingfoiling it almost always feels faster overfoiled on waves on high speed. So you end up smaller foils for wingfoiling. This is what i found for example with the S series from Code. I don't think a lot of the developers wingfoil. They seem to be prone and downwinding at a lot of brands.
So if i read that the new Silk is more pumpable I have my reservations. I am going to test it before buying. I love my V1 but extra speed and glide would be nice.

I had not used AFS previously and on first go with Silk V2 950 am surprised how forward in boxes the mast is on my Armstrong 75l ML and my front foot pressure still feels light. Is this normal?
