Yeh I've definitely made a point of not over tightening the screws after hearing some isolated issues.

I whacked fairly hard into a reef ledge (I've passed over a hundred times before) the other day - scratched and put some small divets into my 1000

but no issues with the mast. But it could be a weak point in the design. Maybe not we will see.

as far as the old washers go - yeh I suppose they could spread the load. Much easier though to put in and remove the new screw only system. I prefer it now.

I'm only aware of the single issue I referred to above? What else have you heard?

im glad to hear your brush with the reef was ok.
My sense is that we will know very quickly if this is indeed an issue as more HP get our in the wild. Right now I'm taking the approach that "one sparrow does not spring make."

I'm with you on this. If the said individual was using non OEM screws hopefully it's a fluke. That said, I trust Armstrong will warranty this accordingly if more examples of this pop up.

Had my 12th, 13th or something session on the 935 and I've steadily moved it forward to where I used to have the V1 mast in the box. Last time out I felt like banking and carving on swells now feels just as it did on the 85cm. It took a few sessions, but I've adjusted to whatever I needed to change to feel like I can carve it just as hard on a swell/wave. Overall, the 935 makes everything so much better. I've held onto my 85, thinking maybe I'd want it for something, but I think it's going out the door very soon.

Stoked to read this. Mine finally arrives today after being lost in shipping for 3 weeks! 1225 here soon too. Hopefully some impressions soon.

For the lighter riders, I am in the 65-70 kg band is the cost worth it, can see for heavier riders it's a must. But for us lighter riders is the gain as large

I'm also going to start moving the mast forward and see how it goes. I don't use foot straps so have flexibility to move around. Currently foot pressure feels evenly distributed, but am curious to see whether moving the rig forward will give more lift (a controllable lift)

I'm in that weight category. What is your skill level, favorite foil wing, average conditions and favorite conditions?

Intermediate, can now get most jibes, more at home in the waves, on ether 4.5/5.5 f-one v2 with the hs 1250, but have a 1225 to play with , but just getting use to the extra glide , just waiting at moment to see if a sea breeze will kick in for a afternoon session here in nz

Well I'm like 72/73kg now and is it worth it? Yeh it's worth it. Had mast first riding the 1250 / 1050 and sig better even over the 72 A plus mast which is relatively "stiff" as everyone bangs on about like
its the only holy grail variable.

But - maybe just dial in the MAs for now. Surprised at your weight you didn't reach for the 1000 or even the 800? That being said I really want a 1225 now. But the missus would kill me if I spent any more. And fair enough lol.

The 1225 will be a nice light wind / DW weapon for your quiver I'd imagine. The 1000 would be too much cross over and the 800 would be more demanding.
I agree with Eppo that the 85 should be fine for you for a while. Unless the waves you ride have a lot of steps / chops / cross hatch, then the 935 or 795 masts may be worth while. That being said, the new masts are super nice and will add performance to your 1250. If you see yourself buying it down the road, might as well go for it or wait for a used one to pop up somehow.
I see the performance masts really coming into play riding fast in waves with a bit of confusion going on. Also when cranking hard turns at higher speeds. At our weights, you need to be pushing things to feel the perform gains. If you are really cruising down the line - enjoying life - for the most part, then the A+ masts are just fine.
I'm most likely guilty of punching above my weight class getting these performance masts, but I'm trying to push things when I can, even though I'm probably just an average - above average rider.

Thanks, ultimately was looking at the 1225 & 800 combo, and possibly of new mast but also bought a new set of wings, so pushing it with the wife on toy purchases, mast may wait 6 months

Maybe I'm wrong because I tested the 795 only 2 sessions in light wind and we have always to don't assert things without testing a lot in different type of conditions but for the moment my feelings are :

- Still for the moment I prefer the 72 size especially for waves (I do Wing). I feel more inertia with the 795. But I suppose for only 8cm I will get used.
- With the 795 board/foil is more as 1 block. More rigidity.
- I feel the 795 more in a line for the carving when the old mast can almost make a pivot and to turn shorter. It's like softer/easier with the 72cm.
- When I navigate in a straight line I had moments of ventilation with the old one. With the new one for the moment no one. I have the feeling then it's possible to go quicker but for the moment I had only light sessions.
- Normally I like to be a bit nose up so I thought with the new one I will really appreciate this +1 degree rake but it's not the case for the moment. I feel like my front foot is higher than usually and have the feeling that I have to compensate and to push down but actually I think it's only a feeling and not the reality. The plane moves straight it's only my front foot that is slightly more up. I have to get use. Actually I think too it's better when we touch the water with the nose slightly up.
- I had to move 2cm back the 795 compares with the old one and still I felt almost too much power starting flying especially with the HA725 that need to lift step by step.

As I said I have to test much more the new mast and adapt settings and myself to it. But maybe this feedbacks can help people.

Another session with the 795 and my new 1225 that I will use for light wind. I am already used with the +1 rake. Actually after the jumps it's still easier (The MA wing helps also). I find that the new mast fit really well with the MA wing.
looking forward to try my MA800.
I think with the 1225 and the 800 I will fill in all the conditions.

Curiously I came back exactly to the same mast position of my 72cm and it works well like this.

Does somebody know which HM Toray Carbon fiber Armstrong uses for his mast?
Gong uses TORAY M40J high modulus carbon. I don't know what Axis uses?
Range is from M35J - M60J

After 25+ sessions i'm pretty rough water (conditions lately have been 25+ knots) I think it's happened to me less than 5 times. Comparably, it would happen an average of 2 times a session before.

I've yet to feel mast ventilation on the PM. Previous mast, it happened only on occasion though. You can push the PM super hard, no worries.
