No new foils until spring of 2027...

At least my credit card will remain undamaged for a while then..!

I'm pretty sure some cool toys are coming in the future. Right now I'm most excited about the Parawing from North, so far I've only heard good things from people who've had a chance to try it

Unfortunately the only thing that calls is a change to a new system/brand!

Very hard to see what's new on their site - no sign of any new masts - wasn't there a nice looking surf one in the mix?

Yes the new parawing sounds good but its priced at that point with every other good parawing so what would make you buy it. Looking forward to the reviews on it - I see a few out today!

While the SF foils are great, there is an opportunity for a SF/DW merged foil, maybe 10/11 aspect ratio. The SF530 has that blend, Uli mentioned that took some of the DW profile - would be nice to see one in the 700-900 realm. If that is left till next year they will be way behind everyone else.

I think they're releasing things step by step. At AWSI they actually presented an interesting UHM surf mast, so I think that will probably come later.

Yeah, North is done(for foils at least). This industry moves faster than "No new foils till 2027". They had something special for a min now they are just another kite brand that also makes their own foils that nobody cares about. Also you could never really take them seriously not having viable mast lengths for prone. THANK YOU, NEXT

Only thing i was interested in is the seek pro in lighter construction. I'm still using the seek'25, and i really like the board. The rest is imo just different colors, no major upgrades.

100% and plenty of other choice brand options. I agree with TooMuchEpoxy, any relevant brand is pushing new front foils and while I love the SF range, they must be nearly 3 years old. The DW range had potential but no one is really raving on them.

Has anybody tried the new MA950V2 ?

Is it exact the same shape ? I like the MA1050V2 and the MA850V2 but a bit more glide would be nice.

If you have any experience with these foils, would you be willing to compare them?

Hi, I'm currently using Sonar SF 1080 and 830 foils.

I'm considering switching to the DUOTONE CREST 1050 and 800 foils. I've heard they're fantastic.

If you have any experience with these foils, would you be willing to compare them?
Thanks

Perhaps start a new thread on the duotone crest? might get more feedback. The latest xfoils podcast did review it (surf foils ep1) and it does sound nice.

Does anyone actually know if the DW series are improved by using a C650 fuse. One of the guys I was talking to swears the DW foils are significantly better on a C650 midsize fuse than the C700 or C600 (he does sell North gear and other brands but that is not relevant to his thinking). I've got the C700 & S192 with the DW900 but would get a S142 and C650 if it is that much better?

The Recommended Foil Assist setups in the current North catalogue indicates the C650 and S142 would be a good combination with the DW900. Thoughts?

I dont have any direct comparison, but i use the dw1100 with the c650 and s192 and find it very easy and intuitive to use. Thinking about switching to the s142 for an easier time pumping.

73CM UHM Mast finally arrived. What a pleasant surprise after waiting since Fall of 25. Def less drag, going to be fun for trash bag and DW. But loved it in the surf, def could tell I was getting snappier turns on my SF830 and 680. Didn’t wear my watch but it was feeling faster as well on jumps and broad reaches. Pretty much the same results that people are feeling on lots of UHM’s.

Had a first go on the S178v2 tail. Really nice combo with my favorite frontwing ; MA850v2. Getting a bit more glide out of the 850v2 now. The tail feels a bit more alive compared to the v1. Really nice.

I am having problems with the fit of my new S145v2 stabilizer. It seems that the stabilizer does not have the same curve as the fuselage, causing them to run unevenly. When I tighten the screws, tension builds up, and I am afraid it will cause damage. Does anyone recognize this problem?

Hi,

Have been following this thread as the best guide for north wings.
I am not sure about which way to go with next purchase and wondering if you could suggest which way to go.
Wingfoil we 87kg currently have 1850mav2, 1500low aspect, 1350 mav1, 1100 mav2, I was thinking of replacing the 1500 low aspect with a 1500mav2 or should I go for some sort of more high aspect wing , how close so you go in sizing?mostly I use the 1850 or 1350. I'm Into riding a bit of general bay conditions and chop, intermediate stage.

I can't get my head around the newer high aspect styles and where they would fit in a quiver. Any suggestions on whether to get a 1500 ma or something different would be much appreciated.

Cheers chris w

SF1230.

Great low end, easy to pump, more playful than what you're on right now.
Could be a one foil solution for your weight and intermediate level.
Pair it with a S215 or S192

The SF1230 is my one foil quiver, not the fastest, but glides and turns well, just a good all-rounder in small wind driven swell.

SMALLER. Get the 930, or maybe the 830. Until you get down to 680 it Doesnt really FEEL any smaller. It just trades lift for speed and speed gets you more lift so you come out even. I only wing my 930 if I go out and fail on my 680

The sf830 is great! I couldnt become friends with the MA850v2, but the sf is so easy to use and play around with! Also still a very good low end

Thanks for the suggestions on going smaller i appreciate the advice. I often end up going out in marginal winds so might look at the big one first and scale down from there. I dont mind if the 1230sf ends up being too big and i go down in size. I am trying to have extra gear so others can use it so i can get some friends into the sport if they feel inclined.

Cheers Chris

Thats funny because i had the Exact opposite. I could not become friends with the SF680. That foil, when really powered up, had the tendency to just suddenly rise on the front foot. The 850v2 , i can push that one really hard to boost big jumps. Also i was not blown away by the win in glide compared to the 850v2. So i decided to stick with that one as an allrounder. Still my favorite foil untill today. I would like to try the ma700v2 someday...

Sounds like a totally different use case. Im not one for winging powered up, id rather go from gust to gust. Also not into jumping, more into wave riding or just turning circles on flat water.

For what i wanted the MA850v2 just had too high of a stall speed and felt very nervous at lower speed. This is where the sf range excells. Even now that im running the 650 instead of the 700 fuse the sf830 still feels very composed and controlled even though i can turn it on a whim.

I'm enjoying my SF 930 and 680 combo for winging our high desert thermals. I was on the MA 850 as my primary foil last season. The SF foils have really helped me start making my tacks more consistently. What tails are folks using with the 930 and 680. I've been on the 208 and 178. Thinking about picking up the 145 for more glide. Interested in hearing about what tails others like with the SF foils. Thanx, Mike

I ride the same combo and I just chopped the 178 pretty aggressively, like an inch on each side. I found when I started riding the 680 prone the 178 was overpowering the front and it was dropping out on the pump but a small chop helped a little bit and a bigger chop fixed the problem
entirely.
