A meeting has been scheduled to be held at 5pm at the Bent Street boat ramp this Wednesday 4th February 2004. I was told today at the council that the Deputy Mayor and Safety Bay ward councillor Frank Gibson will attend. I anticipate other representatives from City of Rockingham and from the consultants Maunsell Australia.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the proposed changes to the ramp and associated parking arrangements. As most of you know this proposal includes the loss of rigging areas and public foreshore reserve adjacent to the ramp to allow boat trailers to park on the lawn.

Don't stay at home and groan. Come down and have your say! Bad things only happen when good people stand by and do nothing!

It's up to you, swings, BBQ's, shade and seating V's boat trailers.

See you all there.

Look at http://www.rockingham.wa.gov.au/bent.pdf - there is a map and questionairre

That will be a big change to the foreshore - looks as though you loose a lot of the park - looks as though the proposal is for a carpark from Bent Street to Hawker Street and another carpark at Berry Street.

I only get down to sail at Rockingham occassionally (an alternative to visiting the mother in law) - it will be a shame to loose the grassed area - good luck with your action.

I suggest that you make your feelings heard to the council and to Maunsell (Jo Buckee - 9281 6144 0407 433 472). I have informed Jo of this thread - www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1243 - so have a look at the plan and put your two bobs worth in.

Good Luck

I'd imagine that once a couple of rigged sails get blown across the bonnets and doors of cars during gusts, that vehicle owners might change their mind about parking there, or start leaving their wives in the passenger seats to watch the car while they go fishing.

As far as the firm substrate under the grass, I do like the green carpet on concrete slab idea

all the best :)
