Yesterday's Fremantle Herald makes mention of some damage done by kiter/s at South Beach to a lamp post, and kiting close to civilians etc. Also makes mention of the dangers that boats and spearfishing inshore create.

The only positive piece of information is that Waksa gets namedropped as serving to protect.

Please be mindful, we are the lowest on the food chain (deal with it), and remember to keep C.L.E.A.R. as well as clear.

Yeah I read that too on the Cockburn Gazette front page - damaged a lamp post? jeez - how? anyone know what happened.

Strange how low lifes in the area damage personal and council property on a daily basis.... one isolated kite incedent resulted in accidental damage - solution - ban kiting

There was however mention of a "near collision" with a swimmer in the article - the anti-kite brigade are gathering evidence - lets not give em any!

Freak thing to have happened. The kiter was walking over the groin between beaches when a freak gust pushed him towards the park. Unfortunately the kite flew forwards in the window and the lines touched the lamp post on the corner of the park, beach enterance and construction fence. The kiter saw this and walked backwards to get the lines off the post. Then the post just fell. Like it was in mud or something. Ended up falling onto the kiters lines and sending the kite into a loop. The kiter disconnected from the kite (as you do) and we watched as the kites loops actually pulled the lamp post out of the ground. Crazy.
Police came, so did western power, who said that the poles were unsteady in the sand from all the construction and could have come down on a person.
Guy walked away without any damage to his kite or any trouble from the authorities.

WAKSA is onto it.
