In response to a recent kite incident (no one injured) and related media coverage the WAKSA team are putting together a 'site guide' for publication on our website : www.waksa.org.au
The guide will include all relevant info for both South Beach & the adjacent C. Y. O'Connor Beach & including 'Crazy Waves'.
Preliminary information provided suggests that kiters should only use South Beach as a launch & land zone - if at all. Session kiting should be practiced outside of the walls.
The best, and safest, launch and land area is the area immediately south of the first groin. (NB: If it is westerly or high tide this area may be unsuitable).
Using C. Y. O'Connor Beach would avoid all possible problems and is a more convenient access point for the better kiting areas eg Crazy Waves.

This is all preliminary advise. WAKSA would welcome input from any/all kiters who know or use the area regularly. Members and non-members are invited to contribute.

Good work.

Most know that South Beach is a very cool area with grass, shower, cafe, and wandering bikinis.

And most know that Crazy Wave carpark is a haven for (*) thieves.

Predictions are that with the development of Port Coogee & South Beach, Crazy Wave carpark will get a complete makeover.

(*) - insert very derogatory term here

Spot on Beer Bong! that crazy waves carpark has to be THE most sketchy one for breakins in the metro area

As for Launching south of the southern groyne, watch out for barbed wire fence

Be interesting to see how the 'culture' of this area changes as it gets populated - looking forward to kiting crazies this winter.
