Barry , can you give us a few details on whether we will be able to camp at the lake and if so when can we get onto the lake to practice. I know of 3 class 5 ,s from lefroy making the trip, possibly 4 and if CL 6 is on then at least 3 minis and some BLOKARTS

Have requested approval from CALM - the last (unofficial) response was 'shouldnt be a problem' but will wait for the written go ahead.

Pre event practice is ok, just need to let me know so I can unlock the gate.

Camping on the lake is approved subject to conditions. No fires, clean up afterwards etc. Full details to follow but just getting the ok is the most important bit.

DOH!

It seems I have released two versions of the nomination form. The first one didn't have the return address for correspondence. Can't put it up here so if anybody needs to send stuff, pm me and I will provide the details.

Apologies for any inconvenience

Hi Baz, any idea how many combatants there may be? Are the Blowies still turning out in their droves? Are you having scrutineering, and if so when?

You may be surprised bazl, Andy has lots of landsailing experaince from waaaaaaay back, he may give you all a run for your money in his new blokart

It is fantastic news Andy that the Perth Blokart Club has taken off so well that you can enter 6 yachts in the racing. Looks like being a great regatta.

I look forward to dropping in and saying hello and watching some racing. Sorry boys I am sitting this one out this time around and spending some time on the beach with the kids as the last time they went to the beach was 12 months ago in Rada Tilly.

have fun with the racing

look forward to rubbing wheels on the start line matey . Will you be releasing your secret identity then .[}:)]always more than happy to come second or less if the race leaders are having to work hard for thier glorious prize.
Besides I only ever claimed to Australias second greatest Landsailor, and The Incredible Val 'smurf' Murphy pipped me for that honour last year

Thank you Promo girl for those kind words of encouragement gee you must have your hands full keeping the worlds best landsailer's ego in check it must be true behind every great man is a greater woman in this case not a truer word was spoken.
If your racing a blokart Paul not a mini I will give you a run for your money, won't bother me if I come second last because I will be ahead of you anyway

See you on the start line matey ARRRRRRH.

Day 1
The results, and the carnage

What a great day, 15-20 knots sw all afternoon and everybody (mostly) had a ball. The new sailors in blokarts got around the course with no problems, but the same can't be said for one of the class 5 pilots who managed to take out the final mark before the finish line and execute a neat somersault. Absolutely spectacular, wish we had a video camera.

Then there was a minor incident with two of the C88's approaching each other at 90 degrees. The pilot of the yacht giving way (guess who ) attempted to turn but the front wheel 'bunny hopped' and the turn was not executed in time to avoid a collision. Both yachts ended up in the scrub, but no harm done.

Then there was another minor incident with one of the promos in a similar situation which just missed avoiding the right of way yacht (guess who again, but not guilty this time ) and drove the nose wheel neatly smack bang into the stub axle. The 'R' clip doesn't look quite the same any more

And neither does the front end of the promo

Not to worry, a bit of heat and suitable persuasion will straighten it out I'm sure.

Results so far

Class5 (8 Club 88's, 2 promos, 1 OTT and Vic's beast AUS 230)
M. Turner (would you expect anything less?) G. Chandler, M. Firth, R. Kjellgren, T. Bartlett, M. Cromarty, G. Johnston, P. Day, B. Mason, W. Thomas, F. Johnston, V. Birmingham

Class 6 (6 blokarts and 2 LL Minis)
P. Day, A. Bates, T. Bartlett, T. Klamer, Bastain (a young man visiting from Belgium), D. Deutchoe, D. Harris, V. Murphy, L. Harris

Hi Barry,
Looks like you guys have been having a fat old time over there. Good to see that the land yachters are including the blokarters or vice verca as the case may be.

Let's hope that happens over here on the eastern side. If Paul pulls off a prize at Yeppoon I hope he won't be wearing THAT costume at the presentation. Superman's costume never crept up his crack like that one of Paul's.

Have you put that sail I sent over to any good use yet?

The event at Yeppoon is shaping up big time and hopefully the location will become a recognised venue for landsailors of all persuasions. Fortunately the beach there has not yet become subject to some council or national park permit regime. Let's hope it stays that way. Cheers Cisco

Don't count on it, but it's a good incentive for you guys to sail the best!
