Hey Piros

I dont think there are enough boards in that ute, it only has a 9'3rip, 9'6rip, 9'6 wide, 10 AA 10'6AA and 11?

What happened to all the others???????

Mac don't know the time.
We all got knocked out of our heats so we hit Currumbin at Lunch , heavy wind and current but it was pumping solid 6+feet sets 200m rides absolute epic session on the stand ups , my best ever session. The take offs were like riding mountains I stiil can't get the smile off my face. so come for a surf early, we'll check out Currumbin first up around 6am , but be ready mate we launched off the rocks and if you don't get straight out be ready for a major flogging.

Looks fun guys. Wish I could've been down there aswell. Anyway the goldy isn't the only place going off. Noosa is still pumping and the swell is still on its way up. Inside tee tree and the boiling pot was barelling of its nut.

keahi i heard the sunny cost was pumping got any photos.

Mac there are heaps of shots but not on my camera maccas wife Cindy has them , the shots from today were from my camera my mate Brett took them and I'm so stoked he got so many good shots.

If you got a long ride in the comp you had to run back 150m carrying your Sup which just killed you , it was too hard to punch back out after a long ride .Kingy didn't get the the big swell it was too south , it had real sea sickness early but cleaned up during the day.

Some big names got knocked out eraly and the 20 min heat made it hard to get up the wave count , especially if you got caught inside.

Woogie and Billy had great heats.

The NeilPryde Currumbin Classic Wavesailing comp is on this weekend.

Any of the Currumbin crew that want to do some judging just come and find me (Jamie) on the beach somewhere. It's an expression session format, so at the end of the day just need to pick some standouts from each division.

Great Vid Casso good find , the swell and wind is still pulsing making it too dangerous for the downwinder tomorrow , paddling out at Cabarita is impossible 6 to 8 foot off hell breaking 300m out so it will now be held in the river.

Ray Gleave is in 3 finals tomorrow including the Sup , he snapped his Mal in the semi's today and came in with his broken board got another one and went back out and still made it through how good is this guy.

The Sup final is the last event tomorrow (2pm NSW) and it should be a cracker , I'll be on the beach with the zoom lens and post some more pics tomorrow night.

Are you guys ever gonna let that go? That's what comps are, you take what nature throws up during the timeframe, good or bad. By the way, those waves at Kingy are absolute garbage compared to what Noosa has been every day for the past 2 weeks since the Sup final and no traffic jams, concrete jungle, epic uncrowded beachies, low crime rate, Double Is. Point, awesome fishing and relaxed lifestyle are just some of the reasons we live here and not the Gold Coast.

Anyway...back to the Malfunction....just got this from their web page.

In the highly entertaining Ron House Paddle Boards local legend and Long board King of Cool 50 year old Ray Gleave is firming as favourite after winning an intensely stacked semi final. “These guys are half my age and are so fit, not like me who just goes surfing and drinks beers,“ said the multiple Australian Longboard and Malfunction champion.
“I only caught two waves in that heat and my knees started to buckle. Even though I’ve been competing for over 25 years, I still get nervous before a heat and that keeps my mind on the job. My board is 9ft 3” although my opponents are on 8ft models and easier to turn in these waves. Knowing your equipment and knowing what to do is what helps you in the heat.” Former World Iron man champ Nathan Myers finished second and Lennox head Surf shop owner Noel “the Robot” Graham originally a pro junior short board champion from Byron Bay created the biggest upset of the day when he eliminated the fittest waterman on the Planet, Jamie Mitchell. “I said a few Hail Mary’s and in the end I scrapped into third,“ said the Byron Bay born and bred smiling man they call Robot.

In the other semi Gold Coast City Lifeguard and Big Wave tow-in pro James “Billy” Watson cruised into first place, formerly a shortboard champion from the Burleigh Boardriders Club, Billy said position in the lineup was possession and it was hard to gauge the conditions and select the right waves. Currumbin’s Woody Jack was second and Sunshine Coasts Woogie Marsh was third. Ist, 2nd, and 3rd progress into tomorrows final.

Final of the Ron House SUP: James “Billy” Watson, Ray Gleave, Woody Jack, Nathan Myers, Woogie Marsh, Noel Graham
