Just out of interest, here's a 15year old boom of mine.
I'm really good at braking booms!
forget how many times this has been repaired.
1st off, I broke one arm beyond repair, managed to buy a new one, (that's in red.
2nd broke the head, bought another one
3rd snapped that within a few months.
4th modified the arms to fit a scavenged head
5th repaired tail piece
Can't see it here but the adjustment holes in the tail piece are elongating, and the boom is slipping.
This is the time to replace, I've tried repairing slipping booms, works for a while, but always wears out.
The worn out tape on the white arm was an experiment in converting from round to oval arms, for me that didn't make any difference.
