in my opinion the garmin is better than the gW60. Accuracy is very similar. battery life seems better, and it has extra functions like heart rate that I find very useful.
The strap is on pins, so it doesn't get bent and fatigued like some of the GW60 straps did. It's also got good connectivity to your phone and computer.
If you use an under grip on the front of the boom, this reduces the accuracy of any watch.

In theory a gap between sail and board, decreases sail efficiency. how much practical effect that has is anybody's guess.

I don't know the purpose of these boards, probably just to play around, but more than an evolution they seem a curiosity. They will never perform like a modern board

It takes angle of attack, out of the sailors hands and sets automatically, the angle between the end of the front hulls and the rear planning surface.
I assume they are meant basically as speed boards. I don't think they will gybe very well.

Ant seemed very keen to try them out, after his first session, in not ideal conditions.

My personal feeling, without riding one, is that they won't be faster in the hands of a top seed sailor, (like Chris Lockwood,) but a less experienced sailor could well go faster, as the complexities of getting optimum angle of attack is no longer there.

Saturday looks a little light, SE is a good direction for Coodanup, fairly on shore long runs in the flat, There's not much weed at the moment, so a standard weedy is probably OK, depending on water depth. If the wind was strongenough for good speed runs, Liptons would be the fastest place, Can be a nice long run out to Ward pt, where there is more flat water, but somewhere on the way you'll run into dirty wind off Pt Grey.
Sunday looks too light for a slapper.
Monday, WNW is probably only good for Yunderup or Austalind. I haven't sailed Yunderup for ages, it's very isolated, and you don't want to be there by your self if something goes wrong. You always get sucked in to going a little further, and find your self about 8km from base.
The guys were at Australind the other day. What should have been perfect conditions turned out to be too choppy, I've no idea why.
Flex has posted a vid of it, in the Bruce MKee thread.

I don't think in this vid they were going fast enough to get up on the super cavitating foil, but that turbulence looks more like ventilation to me, there's lots of air bubbles, below water level

As far as I know, this is incorrect, Neanderthals where only in Europe/Asia, There's no Neanderthal gene in Africans

I think since 20 years ago, board volume has decreased for the same width. So if you are buying a board by volume it may be a tad bigger than you really want.
But time is doing strange things for me now, I can't be sure boards changed 20 years ago, it may be a bit more.

fillet is the extra round bit connecting the board to the fin.
