New tt for waves
Gday fellas.. Keen on hearing from anyone who rides a shinn monk or speedball at a beachie . I currently ride a jimmy Lewis model 3 and was looking at a second board to mix it up a bit... Before anyone starts going ( ride a surfboard it's fully sic) I do when I'm kiting and all year round when there's waves but I have been having way more fun on my tt sliding out the tail and boosting off the lip. I find with my jimmy Lewis it's a fine line between holding edge on a hard turn and fully sliding out down the face . The rails on my board are slightly rounded and was wondering if the monk or speedball was a bit sharper and performed well on the waves. Any feed back would be great
Cheers

Moves for mutants and TT's in the waves.
Ok blokes for those weirdo's that enjoy a good TT or mutant wave session lets discuss some moves you like doing.

One that i'm really enjoying the hell out of at the mo is this.

imagine cross on wind with a nice swell period in between waves.

Crank as fast as possible on the flat water to the wave lip healside (backwards on a mutant).
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOST as high as possible.
add what ever tweak or oldstyle move your comfortable doing on a monster boost.
As your blasting through the air you spot the next wave forming in front of you.
Redirected for a rocket fast down wind landing.
Switch the board to toeside
land superfast on the next wave face while fishpoling the bar for downloop.

Crank down the line like a bullet or (my personal favourite) throw the mother of all high speed bottom turns and blast back upwind.

Ahhh.. lots of fun. It doesn't happen too often that I can time landing on the next wave face. but when I can.... ohh that's the holy grail!

Calling all mutant users
Hey bros.

whose on a mutant?
what type is it?
what do you like about it? what don't you like?
if you could have the perfect mutant what would it be?

PS i'm talking about kiteboards not disfigured women.

heelside to toe side
been kiting for 3 months and on a directional board trying to learn heelside to toe side at moment,I have been piloting the kite slightley towards 12 at start of turn and then pulling hard on bar in the new direction when facing down wind, this seems to pull me throught the turn ok but i am not able to stay on the plain just after the turn even when i am working the kite, could be poor toeside tech but feels like as i have driven the kite down for the turn that i then have no power available quick enought to maintain enought speed, any tips from what others have found when leaning this would be greatley appreciated.

2011 Ozone Reo Wave Kite
Rider: Weight,Level (advanced)
Style: Surf
Weather: 12-18 knots Head to dbl o'head surf
Build Quality: 10/10
Satisfaction: 9.5/10
Disclosure: I own a school and retail outlet and sell this brand

My Comments:

Myself and a teamrider mate of mine Nath, were given the opportunity to get a ride on the new Ozone Reo prototype surf kites over the last week at Gnaraloo and "the spot" Gero.

Although it is probably a little pointless in raving on about all the finer points and characteristics of the kites at this stage as it is still a prototype and may be tweaked a little more before finally released for production soon.

What I liked:
Power was good, a bit more than the Catalyst but a little les than the Edge. and doesn't develop power as much in the way the Edge does (apparent wind)

Doesn't stall at all, just drifts back nicely as you make your way down the wave, either hooked or unhooked.

Turns fast if you want it to, but takes a bit more effort than the Catalyst so wont inadvertantly turn if you don't want it to.

So stable and predictable, just always seemed to be in the right spot for me.

Can't speak of the new bar as we flew them on the old bars.

I loved it! Sorry for the lack of depth of review, as some aspects may change prior to final release and design approval. Nate and I both agreed, it was as good as could be and couldn't think of anything that may need to be improved after three days of riding them.

I can't wait to see the new bar and the completed kites
