F1 Powerboat - Qatar Team in Limbo waiting for their Race Boats

The defending World Championship and host Qatar Team continues to hope for the best as their pair of race boats for tomorrow's 6th Grand Prix of Qatar continue to be on the high sea's of the Arabian Gulf and the team is ready to shift into 'double time' as they are now two days behind everyone else in the paddock.

'We are hoping we receive our boats and race headquarters out of customs before midnight tonight,' said World Champion Jay Price. 'We are expecting to rush as quickly as humanly possible since the first practice session starts early tomorrow morning and there are no spare boats anywhere.'

So, it's wait, wait and more waiting for the team that still is very much in the championship picture with a pair of Grand Prix's here on Friday and Saturday mixed with four more scheduled in the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah in the next two weeks.

There are still 120 points available for the drivers championship as 2009 continues to be the longest season in the 29 year history of the sport. With 16 events covering a nine month calendar Swedish star Jonas Andersson of Team Azerbaijan is leading the table with 92 points followed by Thani Al Qamzi with 88 points and Finland's Sami Selio third with 83.

Tomorrow's Grand Prix, the 11th of the campaign begins at 15:00 local, 13:00 GMT and 07:00 Eastern Standard Time on the East Coast of North America.
