Having cleaned up on the 2011 wave tour winning three out of three events, Philip Koster (Starboard / NeilPryde / Dakine / Maui Ultra Fins) became the world's youngest wave champion. But obviously not content with his title he has gone on to deliver another astounding performance in particularly tough conditions to win the superemesurf big days in Germany.

The Baltic Sea was firing for competition day with fifty knots of wind challenging the 36 competitors, whilst super-cold temperatures ensured everyone had a suitable amount of neoprene on, apart from the world champion. As he is usually accustomed to the warm water in the Canary Islands Koster went out without gloves or boots so it wouldn't hinder his performance, and the risk paid off as he managed to defeat PWA rider Lars Gobisch (RRD / NeilPryde) in the final with a high stalled forward and a tweaked pushloop. Koster was determined to win this competition following his performance in 2010 when the cold became too much and he cracked a tooth on the boom and came fourth.
