People posting that they feel sick or woke up late....who gives a rats ass..
People letting the world know that they are going on holidays ( please rob me )
Women worrying that their besty has other best friends.
Kids getting accounts and ( friending ) unknowns.
Who has 500 friends???

I have it with actual people that I care about on it.Less than 20 lol
I wouldnt miss it thats for sure.

It's bad IMO.
I got on it a month ago so to enter my son in a footy competition (FB was the only way to enter).
I don't have any 'friends' and if they try to request me I will ignore them.
I have had a look at other profiles and it just reinforced my opinion of how pathetic the whole FB thing is.
In saying that, I believe it has a good purpose to help keep those family/friends which live OS or interstate and can be used as a business tool for marketing/networking but it's just not for me.

Gee. no wonder poor ole Mark Schluckenburger is having trouble holding up the value of his shares when all you lot bad mouth his fabulous corporation.
Have some pity on the poor guy and say something nice.

Now look what you've done. Hot off the press! from www.theguardian.com/technology/2012/sep/25/facebook-private-messages-published-false

"Facebook's share price fell 9.1% to $20.79 at the close in New York on the back of the fears, the biggest drop since 27 July. The stock has slumped 45% since its May initial public offering, and hasn't traded above its $38 IPO price since the day after the share sale"

$20 eh? It's still waaaay overpriced. At $2.00 I will buy some.

My colleagues had been bugging me about going on facebook for months. Relented and within 2 minutes had 2 requests to "friend" from blokes that I had sacked in a previous life. Facebook account lasted as long as it took to shut it down.
Friend of mine was telling me that his trainee wasn't sending him any results from tafe. Quick look at facebook revealed that the kids surfing and partying skills were vastly improving.

I thinks Facebook's stock is worth around the $12.50 mark, well below its current price even with Monday's drop.

That would be roughly 24 times projected 2013 profit and six times estimated 2013 revenue of $6 billion,

Given current multiples in the market, im also noting that $12.50 is still no bargain price.

At $5, i would jump in with both feet.

I like Facebook because: I have more than 500 friends (people met kiting a fair amount) all around the world and this is the only way I can keep in touch, I remember having to send emails it was dreadful. I use it too to back up photos when traveling, remember birthdays...

It's not my entire life but I like it: all the other stuff pisses me off like you guys but in the end it's a tool, I use it to my benefit... all the other **** i ignore...

I think there was a rent in the space/time continuum, particularly in relation to dogs and avatars.
It made my head hurt.

Years ago in the dim dark days of the interwebby, people used to get upset by cookies being on their computators because the invasion of the privates as people could track their porn history.

Then came along Farcebook and everybody put everything about themselves up on there.

Who needs cookies?
Who needs to know about billions of people, their likes dislikes, political affiliations, work life how much they hate their job's, who's screwing who and where do they now look? (for a small fee of course)

I've never been on Farcebook Myarsespace, twatter etc, but I some how or other get emails from them about people I actually know in person.

Peter Mac goes on about sheeples and big brother, Fark big brother dosen't need to do a thing besides log in, everyone's doing the work for them.

They're just one big data base, sold to the highest bidder

Dislike. Elmo, spot.bloody.on.

(1) it contributes to targeted advertising with all the sites you look at blah blah. Everytime my missus looks at Facebook my spyware and virus scanners pick up a hundred files...... but I look at shonky porno sh!t all night and have none.... hmm (OK not all night every night, but anyway...)

(2) younger folk can't handle it - they don't have the maturity. D!ckheads putting parties on and suddenly all the neighbourhood riots on weekend nights are 10x as often and 10x as bad as say 5yrs ago.
Schoolyard bullying extends into social media (yes, turn it off.... but teenagers can't do that, they are too dumb)

(3) relationship breakups left right and centre, the internet is bad enough for helping people find a casual bonk but social media has fuelled the flames big time. Years ago you'd have to go out of your way for put an ad in the swingers section in the paper, (I'm told ) but now everyone is talking to 300 peeps and even if they are not doing anything wrong the partner wonders if they are etc. How many peopel do we really need to talk to every day? Especially if it is to the exclusion of our partners / kids / etc. How many?

(4) finding out your mate had a baby, or got engaged, or somebody died, third hand. WTF.... put it on Facebook??? Maybe if you got a new job or new car then stick it on FB, but if you can't be fkd telling the 5 or 10 most important people in your life in person that you got engaged, or preggers, or somebody died- then you are a loser. IE: social media contributes to laziness. People are so self absorbed and lazy nowadays that they'd rather spend 10sec updating FB than 10mins telling a dear friend that they care. And that is sad.

(5) lack of interpersonal skills. Kinda goes with the number 2 with young folk. People put on FB that Bill Smith just got killed in a car accident, shark attack, whatever. Because they want to be the coolest, have the latest news etc. Typical gossipy sh!t. It is hurtful to the family in tragedies.
Then people write stuff they'd never say in person and we have the Govt contemplating laws to stop rudeness online. Bloody hell....

Why do we use technology to enable society to display it's worst habits or flaws? And then proclaim it to be a success as sooo many people use it?

If you watched the recent 4 Corners program on youth suicide you might get the feeling that Facebook is a contributing factor to the alarming increase of youth suicide.

One mother had to ask all her suicided daughter's FB "friends" to stop posting to her daughter's page/wall and said....

There is no 3G in heaven.

I agree its lazy and slack. And there is ALOT of crap on there. And whinging. And attention seeking. And idiots. And people taking pictures of their dinner, and the dog, and my friend's sisters cousin's new baby. And duckfaces. And trolls. Your ex's stalk you. People you dont know want to be your friend. I cant believe i put up with all of that $h!+ but its easy to meet up with chicks (from school, an old crush, your exs best friends). But i'm slack and lazy.

I remember a time when...........

Web - was something a spider made
Website - where the spider decided to make his web
Inbox - what you do to stuff when you move house
Virus - a cold or a nasty rash from some girl
Windows - we looked out of them
Log on - what you did to make a fire
On line - Where the washing went
Mouse - what the cat ate
Keyboard - used to make music
Hotmail - the letterbox is on fire
Yahoo - calling out to your mate
Google - what you did when you saw boobs

Them were the days.
