currently feel pain in my left chest.
need a very long warm up when playing raquet sports.
erectile dysfunction.
major sleeping problems, can fall asleep but not for long around 4hours max.

Well if it was me, I'd ask my Dr, especially about pain in my left chest!!!!!

But hair loss is supposed to be too much testosterone, which conflicts a bit with your other problem.

aches and pains, yes mine started around then, fairly normal.

I didn't have many of my own teeth at 40, but my Mum blames that on lack of calcium during the war years when I was small.

The other problems could all be related and need investigating.

I did 160km on Monday, 45kms yesterday and 50kms again today, (and today the wind was fairly strong), admittedly I'm not feeling as fresh as a daisy at the moment, but I could do another 50kms tomorrow I'm sure.

Have to agree with Decrepit, Pete
1: yep, less flexibility, only way to overcome is stretching exercise regime
2: No Arfer yet, but may get some in a L/H ankle later
3: yep
4: Get that checked, I didn't and "whack" found out the hard way Go and get a stress test done.
5: no good at racquet sports never was
6: No... well not yet... anyway
7: yep
8: yep, but only one day recovery, so its a day, on day off if I want to get most fun after a "long" day in the saddle.

I went to a school reunion a few years ago (I'm 50 soon) and most guys looked "old". The common denominator among the guys who looked younger and healthier was they "worked" for a living eg tradie. I believe, apart from a healthy lifestyle, being active is important - you will rust out before you burn out!
Unfortunatly we all have a 'use by date' but the worst thing you can do is worry about it!

I'm 46 and not a health freak

no aches and pains yet
I've definitely lost flexibility
no signs of arthritis
no hair thinning
no pains in chest
don't play raquet sports
My sex drive is waning
I've never slept properly since my first child was born 17 years ago (she was a shocker) but usually get at least 6 hours uninterrupted sleep every night.
my teeth and gums are good
I recover quickly from physical excursion usually overnight.

I've always worked and contributed to society, which has helped in giving me some meaning. However, I didn't expected to live as long as I have done - I never saw myself ever making it to 40 - so I feel comfortable and content about myself now.

I would be concerned about chest pains if I had them - I would ask a doctor about it.

In saying that, I'd rather die from a heart attack in my 50s than be cooped up in a nursing home with non caring refugees looking after me in my 70s - which unfortunately is the bleak reality for lots of our older folk.

Gee Petermac33, you sound to be in much worse shape than your 'friend' who you posted about a few days back. All he had was a floppy willie but you sound to be much closer to being on the critical list. I would stop worrying about him and start worrying about yourself.

Haven't you heard that "Life begins at forty" ?
Yeah. Right!
Whoever said that was obviously on drugs and had totally lost touch with reality.

But hey, forty for me is just a distant memory, and I'm still alive.
Some days I actually enjoy myself. Not recently mind you. But I seem to remember one day not too long ago. So it is possible. or was that just a dream I had once. Hmm,. Not sure now. Perhaps I might go and lie down for a while.

Im fitter at 40 than I was at 22, I was mega fit at 17 and then i found alcohol. Gave up drinking at 35 due to abuse and have never looked back. Also do physical work, plumber/roofer. Back is probably a bit tenderer, but hey, I can live with it.

I'm the same age. I've noticed a few things were getting a little harder to handle so I decided I wasn't having a bar of it. Started a major fitness campaign involving lots of weight training, moderate running and a really clean diet. Lost 10kg, now need to strap on 20kg to get a decent chinup workout and can recover from a really full-on sailing session within 24 hours. I had a few shoulder problems, but that wasn't something a physiotherapist couldn't sort out for me.

As others have said get that chest pain checked out.

Thinning hair I accept as part of life along with the reduction in flexibility.

I do suffer from sleeplessness, but always have. I've found recently though that I sleep like a log if the AC is on - something to do with white noise I think. You don't need as much sleep after forty anyway. Interestingly I always find it hard to sleep after a big windsurf. I think I overdo it a bit and also I think it takes a while for the adrenalin to leave my system.

Have you ever been to a Chiropractor? Almost everything you mention can be caused or influenced by restrictions on your nervous system from slight misalignments of your spine and other joints your nerves pass through as they make their way from your brain to your organs and muscles.

(no, I'm not a Chiro)

You're young - still at an age when you notice the bad things. When you're over the hump you notice the good things

Actually it sounds like there's something more wrong than normal. I'd get a thorough check up.

It's all that NWO stuff you have been looking into.

They are onto you and are sending secret subliminal signals down the line that zap you from your computer screen.

I suggest you change your ISP and put a mask over your IP address and all your problems should go away.

If that doesn't work you should take up land sailing. We do it lying down and we even have paraplegic land sailors. Many of us like myself are out and out geriatrics.

Have a Happy Christmas and a land sailing New Year. Cheers Cisco

I think there is only one option for you to solve all your woes especially your soft one.

Take a cement table and HTFU

oh and longer harness lines will help as well

I thought the answer was obvious, well at least it appears it is; get married:

last couple of years have started getting a few aches + pains. - next couple could be a lot more

legs esp, loss of flexibility. - won't matter, you can still mow the lawn

currently feel a bit of athritis in left wrist. - won't matter, you can still wash the car

hair thinning. - won't have time to think about it

currently feel pain in my left chest. - won't have time to think about it

need a very long warm up when playing raquet sports. - what raquet sports? sports?

erectile dysfunction. - won't have to think about it

major sleeping problems, can fall asleep but not for long around 4hours max. - won't have enough time to think about the lack of sleep

teeth falling out - won't have time to think about it

takes 2 or 3 days to recover after sailing in stong wind. - what sailing?

In all seriousness, I think you have too much time to think about these things. People always get older and less fit, but the more time you think about it the more time you waste.

you're having a mid life crisis. ie, hormone imbalance

followed by depression which has your sleeping patterns are all over the place.

I'm 53. I'm healthy but not a freak about it. I'm not flexible but I never have been. (I can't see the point of flexibility. No matter how much yoga I do I'm never going to be able to go down on myself.)

I go through periods of aches and pains and moans and groans but they only last a few days or a couple of weeks at worst. Overall I'm as fit as I ever was and way way fitter than most younger people.

You, on the other hand, sound completely f_cked. I'd go and see a doctor. A full set of blood tests and ECG are free and don't take long.

What Gestalt said!
Hormone imbalance, is not just something women have at your age...
Men do and can suffer from this as bad as women!
There is a Dr that specializes in this in Perth!
a Dr Partridge in Osbourne Park.

But that chest thing need to be investigated. asap

WHAT THEY ALL SAID ABOVE

AND THEN

TAKE UP KITING
wave sailing has slowly added to my injury list
and now kiting I find a bit less stressful on the body
depends on how hard you push it though.

the left chest pain was a bruise i got w/surfing previous day.
left wrist throbbing pain is gone today.
its windy around 20 knots but need to rest body so will have day off w/surfing.
never been to doc for check up for last 20 years. only go to get ear syringed, so can hear.
dont trust mainstream mediSIN.
e.dys...no can get anyway.[short of 120kg 32y.o who i dont want anyway, sorry helen].
flexibity, too lazy to stretch much. i pick things up from floor with a bit of effort.
sleeping problems, i have tried everything, has improved a bit.
generally have lack of motivation to do anything that requires physical effort.driving down to river today and rigging up a good example.

always said the day i cannot sideways jump over tennis net is the day i consider myself to be a geriatric.
i do believe absolutely that:
they[the NWO] have got me like this to large degree.
the fluoride i've been drinking in the water.
the fluoride thats been getting in my pores from taking showers.
the lithium they have been putting in the water supply to make us docile.
the nuking of the food supply for last 8 years,[especially of imported food].
the chemtrail spraying.
the ingenious plan[vaccines] of injecting us with heavy metals including mercury and telling us it will prevent disease when it actually causes nearly all auto-immune disease.

the list goes on and on, may be i am just paranoid for believing that this stuff has contributed in big way to my ....ked state of well being.
