You have to hand it to dojo - I am also a hack and would never land that stuff - but that is a beautiful example of how to give some constructive feedback.

These spots sound crap anyway-

Kite Police cruzing around telling people not to land here or there.
People saying Im gunna cut your lines if you misbehave.
Euro's need to a Visa just to kite at this beach.

I'd pack up my floaties and Wicked Van and find another beach anyway.

Hi lads,

i can see most points being pretty reasonable.

I think the locals have to come up with a framework of rules and the correct kiting procedures in the pond.
The tourists and visitors have to respect such and the schools and instructors have to inform everybody of what to do and enforce it!

I was in safety bay a few weeks back and it all seemed a bit chaotic with instructors being in pond teaching, windsurfers trying to keep kiters out of the lower pond and heaps of guys rotating in circles freestyling behind the sandbank..

you get similar problems at most good spots where you have a lot of people, it is important to respect the locals and ask them what to do and what not!

At the end it would suck to loose a great spot because everybody is just on an ego trip. The locals live there the visitors come and go. Make sure that the pond doesnt get banned and ask the locals about the right way of kiting at the spot!

Signs would be good thats what we have at our local spots so when people do the wrong thing we send them to sign to read it.

There will be more and more people every year so its just going to become worst.

Good luck

what you mean like the BIG sign RIGHT at the little walkway you have to go through to get onto the spit?

there should not be ANYONE teaching there at all. no ifs or buts the upwind side is the teaching side.

its good to see jammin is back and not reading everything fully like always!

dude once again no one said it's a secret spot just saying it doesnt mean it needs to be broadcasted all over the joint to bring in even more attention.

God I miss WA! So looking forward to coming back!

Perth's only the world's 3rd most windy city. Sounds like that's not windy enough for you Junkies!

I'm off to kite with maybe 2 other people in steady 25 knots.

Go NZ! And it's too far for the RETs to make it here! Less sharks, no stingers, no RETs, no crowds, waves, flat water...

Woodies and Safety Bay were world famous back in 2002.
Don't worry, that thing (hornet?) that ate the spider would put me and countless Euros off from going to WA.
I didn't realise North did kites that weren't fluro.

Funny how Wainman was riding like this 10yrs ago and everyone thought it was wack, the world was more interested in watching flash pull badass chicken dangle moves... and now here it is, 10yrs on and the cable culture has fed thru to the kite scene... pity Lou couldn't hold on...

Anyways vid is ok, sure, but egads get yourself some decent tunes, u need to ditch the euro house for some super-chunk breakbeat monster trak or something, make sure it has BALLS! :)

And by the way what's with all the chicken bars? Don't wakers use pulley bars anymore?

Ok later foools, happy bickering over your precious patch of glassy turf @ "the pond"... (but really I relate to your bitching about hopeless communal riding, most jokers have no idea about kite etiquette when riding in a pack... that's why I only ride alone!)

8 years ago people were riding like that in Australia too (with pulley bars)... Infact a few Australians named "boony" and "balls" even pioneered some of the wakeboard tricks on a kite.

And don't think the worlds changed that much, people are now just happy looking at dangle "wakestyle" pictures, with half or nearly grabs and upwind boosts on surfboards... Not much has changed really.

My God this thread and forum is getting boring now.
With Your PM and Government pushing as hard as they can to push Tourism and you guys just want us to f*ck off home and stay off your local spots.

Bloody Joke, really.
You guys have one of the largest coastlines with one of the the smallest populations.

Get over it Guys, cut your mullets and stop trashing the Euro's, threats of cutting lines, punching peeps out is only gonna get you guys criminal damage and assault charges leading to being banned quicker cos you can't be adult and resolve issues with a hint of diplomacy.

If your precious spots are so secret and precious to you then form a club and Register it with the WAKSA speak with the council and have signs put up stating that it is members only kiting allowed and you can have it and police it all to yourselves.

some one lock this thread cos it's a pisstake

Awesome. Came over here looking for some entertainment, and once again the kiters have provided. Windless Friday afternoon boredom relieved.

PS - windsurfing Safety Bay is quite fun when there's nothing else working. Although there's some premium flat water I'm not allowed to play in up against the sandbar, I'm not too stressed about being regulated out of the area. I'm just glad I don't have to deal with the mayhem upwind. Looks nasty.

Red thumb away.
