hey smg, to regulate pressure you can just start to pull out the connection and let most of it spill as it starts to get full

to those with 4wd type compressors...does it take long? Might have to get me one.

A 150L compressor should do it in under a minute and comes standard with a 10m hose. The only down side is it has to be connected directly to the car battery unless you can put in a second cigarette lighter point attached directly to the battery.

Do a search for 150L compressor on Ebay and you'll pick up plenty of cheap chinese ripoffs which do the job quite adequately.

see how long the cheapy lasts if you kite more than just week ends !
My Top of the line bushranger has been going strong for well over a year and a half maybe 2 yrs the cheap ones get really hot an melt, higher air flow with bigger diameter air hose too, good luck if you want to use the cheapy for real four wheel drive tyre inflation too.......ya get what ya pay for

If you use a builders compressor you can blow holes in the bladders too so beware of that an pumping it too fast will blow holes in bladders too eventually so regulate the pressure as it goes into the kite to about the same as a hand pump and your safe for everyday use.

^^ That's kind of the plan...ish...but with a basic on/off tap or blow gun style trigger on the end.

The longer black hose seems to be the go to warm up the air again before it enters the kite. Plus, for areas where I park close to the rigging area I can use a bigger SCUBA cylinder - leave it sitting in the boot and just run the hose out!

It does sound like using a limited size tank might be more beneficial though - If I can't supply everyone with a free/easy fill then I might actually have time to go out and use the bloody kite!

I'm trying not to spend more $$... so I'll stay away from buying a compressor for now and work of SCUBA cylinders..

I'm working on the prototype right now - will let you all know how it goes!

How about a seat harness with a seal around the legs and a hose attached. You could fart and the gas would pump up the kite

Your top of the line bushranger also cost more than 5 times my chinese copy. I'll buy 2 then and keep one just in case the other breaks down If it melts after 2 years I'll buy another and still save

Seriously though, unless you are out 4x4ing every weekend and doing heavy work, the compressor is not going to overheat, at least not on kites. If you're really worried, the Typhoon is one of the more expensive chinese copies which goes for about $170 and is very highly rated. Check the web for reviews.

Hey sunseeker i have got a set up on the old cruser i use it for lots of things .I am thinking of going to di this sunday should give it a go . Too everybody out there it is very simple just use and old air conditioner pump on your car engine .They are rated at 11 cfms wich is about 50 times bigger than a 4x4 air pump be carefull though it will pump up too 230 psi before it blows the seal out the front of it . I have a air tank and presure switch on it set at 120 psi the electic clutch on it disengages but i use a simple tap on the hose too keep control and not blow kite up too much , fill most of kite with it then finsh off with hand pump. hell half of you might have air con on car already that dosent work a little plumbing and wiring and you are on your way . Make the hose out of pump fairly long as it dose create heat . sunseeker look for a sh**ty brown landcruser with big ass wheels on it .

Might see you there Sunday - the forecast looks OK - what say you Blownaway?

It's probably already been said but......YOU LAZY B...STARDS!!!!

Someone should invent a virtual kitesurfing machine, one you could set up in the lounge, that way you wouldn't have to go out at all, keep the discomfort to an absolute minimum.

I may be showing my age here but I find the warm up is good for my arthritic knees.

If you're going to use compressed anything, helium is the go, you don't even have to launch

Well, I am a paintballer, kiting has taken a back seat to tournaments latly, but i plan to be back out the next day with wind.
we use 68cu fibre wrap cylinders at 4500psi for our guns, i usually have 1 in the back of my car, if you ever see me at a beach in melbourne and are feeling too lazy to pump up your kite just let me know :)

Maybe i don't get it. What is wrong with using a hand pump. If it takes too much prescious energy, then get a foil.

73-78 pumps on my 10m kite. - Under a couple of minutes. - Single pump inflation point. By the time you get your cylinder, compressor, paint gun, out of the car, and inflate your kite, and put it back in the car again, i will have already finished 2x runs.

Really guys, next you will tell me you have a remote controlk for the tv, instead of getting up and changing channels.
