Yeah, I saw some relief teachers have a really hard time of it, especially the green ones.

Teaching doesn't have to be kidies though, I was working in the TAFE system until 9 months ago. Teaching more mature students (>25) and young adults (<25) is actually very rewarding, esp' when aproached in a way that encourages social conversation about the topic as part of the teaching method. Mature students do actually want to learn, they're not just there because mum and dad said they have to be there (or else). Think about going to work each day at 9am, chatting to people about what it is that you are good at, knocking off at 4pm, and kiting till dark.

The worst part about it is the governments' shift of teaching staff to casual basis... it doesn't offer the level of security that some of us would like... "Sorry, you're not needed today, so we're not going to pay you either."

You don't have to get the capital yourself. That's what your belief system is. I'm a uni student, so if anyone wouldn't have much capital it would be me! But what do i have that most others don't? TIME! So i can leverage by using other peoples money, split the profits, and before you know it, you're retired.

I know a guy who's 25 and retired. Do you think Mr. Branson had a lot of capital when he bought a 3 million dollar island? Well actually, he got the island for 200 grand, but do you think he had 200 grand? No, he borrowed money of friends and family. Do you think they enjoyed sharing the profits? ABSOLUTELY!

The idea that you need more capital is such a common misconception. You just need to change your belief system and look for other ways!

Nah mate - You have to be registered by the Qld Teachers Board of Registration, and completed either a Certificate/ Diploma in Teaching (for the older people), or a Bachelor of Primary Education or Bach. of Education to be able to relief teach or relief in any Primary school in Queensland.

The only thing stands in the way of many people doing just that, is access. Without access to the required level of funds/lenders, without access to the sort of leads/information to find the big breaks, it doesn't begin to work. Granted once you're established enough and trusted by potential investors it can all work... but getting to that point is pie-in-the-sky for most people... "old money" sure would help, so would being very persuasive, and just a bit brilliant.

Please don't think I'm putting the idea down, just encouraging discussion about kiting more and working less... and backing it with an honest buck.

Hi Happy

Are you a baker? I was thinking about that today...don't most pastry chefs/bakers start really early? What about Couriers or Bakery Delivery drivers???

Azza to teach in Tafe what are the courses you need? Is it just a CERT IV in workplace training or do you need a Diploma of Teaching?

I've got mates that did evening work up and down the coast to kite in the afternoons...but honestly after kiting i feel DEAD.

I'm sure it is somewhere, but I couldn't point at a place. Most of the core subject (like math and English) teachers I have known, have a strongly accademic history (a BA in this and/or that, BA Ed too). But I have come across people that have gotten jobs, like you mention, because they have another language and transferable experience/quals. Language seems to be very dependant on location though and demand... to be honest I don't know for sure. But it is always worth doing your own research.

Hi Happy

I kind of liek that early morning job for extra pocket money to help fund those kiting roadtrips. Did you just hand in a basic resume? is it just cash in hand work? or do you have to tell the tax man?

Im probably too old (23) for any bakery to hire me.

hay ellery "sit on it". do you know the backing your pin up boy bransen had. get a couple of kids under your belt and retire on your non required capital investments before ya spill that amway **** around.

heavon help us. If you want ta get rich ask fitzy how or the boys at surf fx. The guys that i know who are rich worked bloody hard and got a bit lucky. Ya need both to make it

If ya got the gift of the gab then sure you might be able to swing a deal but changing your belief system what crap. If you think we all got the talent to grab investors and do a deal and sit back in the cash. Your very confused about the talent of some of us mere mortals out here in pov land.

Change ya habits- then maybe you got a start!

have you thought about running how to get rich seminars i reakon you would be a hit. blah blah blah blah

Oh this friend 25 and finished i am willing to bet you would not have to dig far to find the critical connection, the backing, the idea, the lucky fall of the cards. It will be there somewhere

hey tezza was ex australian airlines (the 767 fleet basedin CNS) and ozjet. i was in recruitment/training and HR for both carriers with a short stint with Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi between both of the failed aussie carriers...both were a bloody nightmare! I dont want to get back into the industry!! the golden days are well and truly gone!

So far I think my contracting job that I've got at the moment seems like the best a far as flexibility goes...but the pay is CRAP.

o.k. self employment, where the buck stops with you, is the only key to true freedom.
it can be a rocky long road but a truly rewarding one for the soul.
sometimes just for the ability to be answerable to no-one.
follow your instincts, but don't expect results (or money) fast.

or go get a job.

i think i am onto something. In Australia I think you only need about 10 000 people to sign a list to form a religion we should make kitesurfing a religion..just imagine all the benefits of having a non-profit organisation like that. Worship of the wind religion means having to practice when the wind is up. I know I could get out of work to do that! It would be dissing for your boss to not let you out (well i know it is in govt jobs)

We should fwd a chain letter where you add your name to the list

Sorry qfmike737 been in transit for a while. The FIFO mines take entry level applicants but don't put that many on. Knowing someone can help to get a job on their site (btw I am not on one of those sites anymore). They like people with experience and/or trades/professions. But I've seen a fair few totally green people come out from all sorts of backgrounds, mostly starting on the haul trucks and working up from there.

Miners, truckers, mill rats, generally non-staff personnel don't often work 9/5, but a lot now work 8/6, an even better roster, or the more traditional 14/7, not as many days off to on ratio.

If i can't convince you guys to invest.

I'll put in a plug for kite-landboarding.

If you can't get to the beach that often, why not maximise the time you can kite when you're at the beach!
