This attitude of yours and your need to defend/conquer the sport of
Landsailing/Blokarts is unnecessary and possibly bad for your business.
I have no intention in future to respond to this thread due to your present unhelpful attitude.

I'm not going to weigh into this, other than to say I thought Beegee's comments were quite level headed and objective.

Thanks, Hills.

I have no problem with a bit of fun sparring - "Class 5s are faster than blokarts", and so on. Where I have a real problem is where people start throwing around supposed safety issues. It doesn't matter whether it is against blokarts, Lake Lefroy Minis, Phoenix Swifts, or anything else. There IS a line and crossing it can cause serious damage.

With all of the hot air generated from this topic i might take up "hot air" ballooning. Actually i may even be able to harness it as a new "green" renewable energy sauce much like tomato source

test pilot,......... Hot air Balloonists, now there is a bunch who really get into the nitty gritty , of regulations, and they just love to argue and call each other names. I think THEY would hold the gold medal for Dummy Spits in "SPORT" I think this forum is only kindy grade, by comparison

I think beegee has hit the nail right on the head here, futher more you still haven't answered the questions trumpy asked you,
I bet you don't even own a landyacht or maybe your landyacht is your " computor keyboard "

Prove us all wrong GIZMO and answer the questions, gain back some credibility,

As the originator of this post can I plead with all of you to give up on all the stuff relating to anything other than the original question?
Give it a rest guys, you are not helping anyone with an outside interest in the sport to feel good about getting (re)involved.
Seabreeze has become a "shop front" for the sport. Right now it's heading into the ghetto.
FWIW I know a lot of the names round here as having VERY long history in the sport. I won't name any, but some of the aspersions being cast are so far off the mark that the writers are making themselves look foolish. And that's on both sides of the fence.
Lighten up! I have yet to see any sheep stations being won and lost in this sport. (Despite what the Emir of Qatar asked me when I raced there!)

Hey!! Just for interest sake, I threw my legs out of the Blokart today, with pod attached and easily put both feet on the ground.(Wouldn't do it if it was going but then why would I want to??) Now what does "enclosed bodies" really mean??
Food for thought!!

Oh and the new place I tried today is off the list! Bu....er! (just didn't work, thought at elevation of 1000 ft it might have but alas!

Does anyone have an objection to me asking Laurie to delete this thread. As per Lynda's comments in the moderators post I think any healthy debate has departed this thread and what is left is not doing our sport any good at all??

Unless someone objects with good reason I'll PM Laurie tonight.

get rid of the forum, you have to be joking its the best thing that has happened to promote land yachting (no ploblems in removing this thread except some of the points asked in good faith pitty if those parts could not be kept).

The problem is that people are not thinking of the concequences before the answer, there is nothing wrong with different points of view (that is how new ideas develop) but should not be taken or infered to a personal level, we should treat other people the same as we would like to be treated ourselves.

Sorry about the infered swearing in one of my posts but I could see the way this was all heading.

onwards and upwards
Cheers

As the originator this thread was started with the best intentions to ask some very simple questions.
Along the way it gathered a lot of irrelevant "stuff" (to be polite!)
I have no objection to the thread being deleted, it's a shame that this may be the only way forward.
Now I know that this forum is not the "official voice" of ALSA, perhaps the correct and current rules for the classes could appear in the sticky which has rules, provided of course this is the official version.
In my opinion this thread deteriorated as people appeared to be speaking officially and others leaped in.

Could (anyone) please tell me what the 2010 event is, AND, tell me what the "OFFICIAL RULES" are.
I might like to get to that one.
So I would need to know the rules now.

Thanks Vic, I would love to attend that event. Just have to see how the $$$ are by the end of the year. I will suggest it to our members. Must be a lot cheeper than going to Ivanpah.
Could you tell me more about the venue. How big is the coarse? what type of surface? Wind strengths?

Hi Clem,
Bazl is probly the best to tell you the size of the course, It is quite an exciting course with lots of change in directions, The surface it sort of fine gravel, can be rough in some areas and soft in other areas. It requires a lot of skill to get around it and the local sailors go at it real hard. The wind is around 25ks most afternoons at that time of the year. Landyacht can you add anything that I have missed.
Cheers

Ummm, I just returned from Ivanpah, unfortunately only did 1 day racing... another story.

I think it was cheaper for me to get to L.A from Melbourne than to Perth. 900Aus!
Who knows though what it will be like come January.?
