Not sure yet if I'm going to take my board or not.

Anyone been lately?

Any SUP rental places with good boards? Sub 9'0" or there abouts?

Just got back. I seen a new SUP shop out on Sunset Road. Could try there.

But there has been endless swell already. If you're based at Bingin I would be making sure your shorty's are good to go. If the swell hits I don't know about surfing Padang, Impossibles, Bingin, Balangan or even Dreamland on SUP.

Saying that though how good would a cruising SUP be to paddle off Bingin around to Ulu's and Nyang Nyang. Great scenery, amazing reefs etc etc. Maybe if swell forget SUP, no swell go for a good paddle.

I'm envious already.

i recon impossible would be epic on a sup i have surfed it heaps and dreamland would be fine as its almost a beach break i would take a sup for sure

I'm going 9th July to 22nd - staying Bingin and agree Impossibles is fantastic.
There were 2 SUPs at our place but as of last night's email they seem to have "disappeared" so if anyone has a clue where to grab one close by thanks.
My boards are all over 10' so hard to move even on Virgin.

New shop up on Sunset road is SUPbali... moved over there from Kuta... Pete is a legend.. will happilly help out with board rental etc... also show/tell you where is best to surf given swell/wind conditions etc... Jenkie has a shop in Sanur but only sells Jimmy Lewis...

Will be there for a quick tip 6th-10th July... lately been surfing Java, been fun but only surfed lefts... sorry no pics, no one wanted to sit on the beach and waste time taking photos... haven't surfed a right since my last trip to Bali...

oh yeah... easiest way to get around is hiring a motorbike with surfboard racks on it... SUP fits on fine, but be careful of the cops... bloody corrupt bastards... if you have an international licence you should be fine... no laws regarding how big a board you can have on the side of the bike, although the cops will try and pull this one on you... if you dont have a licence, be prepared to part with some cash... usually between Rp50,000-Rp100,000... they will up the price to about Rp500,000 to start with, but like everything, just bargain down...

It would be amazing just to have a SUP out there just to be able to check the place out easily, paddle from break to break. 10 mins by paddle, 1 hour by car..... hahah.

Other than to watch Homeally cause havoc I will be staying close to Bingin and Impossibles - small surf - big board, big surf -small baord-flippers - very big surf - Bintang

Thanks, I will check out Pete's shop.

Impossibles should be fine as it's not nearly as crowded and a handful of takeoff points.
So I will be there a bit, also around Balangan, Airport Lefts and maybe get down to Canggu
at the start of the trip. Might try get some bombs somewhere but see how I'm surfing and
what sort of board I can get.

I rekon the beauty of having a SUP there will be that you can paddle out from Bingin and
head to which ever break you want, just head 5 minutes that way or 20 minutes that way,
whatever looks good and has less than 50 people out!

I might have a chance to make a newy but rekon I'll be stretched for time and not sure
how it would hold up in Bali waves.

edit...just tried www.supbali.com and I thinkhe's using a bali server...very slow!

Let us know how you go. I'm looking at a surf trip next year as a 20th wedding anniversary (wife's suggestion not mine). I want to keep to base it around SUP as I'm not surfing much anymore but don't really know a location that is SUP friendly or where I can hire boards.

Col, I highly recommend Pete at SUP BALI,both my wife and myself have used his services on two occasions, bought 1 board plus 2 paddles. Excellent service and a really genuine bloke. We are heading back in August for a couple of weeks of SUP fun and will definately be using Petes service and buying another board.

I will be there on the 27th July, taking enough surfing and kiting gear already so wont be taking a SUP, however I just got into it recently and am really enjoying it so may try hiring a board whilst I'm there.
Will be on my own for the first week if anyone is looking for someone to go for a paddle with.

Staying at Sundarams now, not Alamanda but will be there from the Tuesday (27th) onwards.

Oh Bnaccas so many SUP perfect set ups & Balian is one of them , seriously you will be teased in to tantrems once you start & it can only mean that you will be back more often to enjoy it all so start a list & check it off you enjoy each of them & dont be surprised when you need to flip a few pages to get toward the bottom of your list!

Look forward to hooking up when you are up here til then keep Goggle Earth on teh screen & add a spot a day to your MUST DO LIST ..

I will need to surf 3 spots a day to fit them all in, but somehow I don't think the wife will let that happen.
