I think you'll find Kelly was 4th. Supconnect didn't see him finish.

At least they didn't call him Kelly Margret as they have in the past.

They are STILL leaving him out of their results.

Great results for Mick and his training program for sure. Apparently Kelly broke his fin box on the shallow reef going out on the second lap which makes his 4th place amazing

Well done to all the Aussies who competed in California. Fantastic results by all. Despite who you are, what training group you belong to or who your coach is, the dedication and committment from all the individual paddlers should be the most important aspect and the biggest reward.
Congratualtions to the Aussie chargers Kelly 4th, JM 7th, Lincoln 9th, Jacko 11th, Jake 13th, Beau 15th and Pete and Steveo unsure on their positions.
Huge result for Sondra in 8th, Ali 17th and Angie who unfortunately had a fin malfunction and couldn't finish.
SUP in Australia is certainly looking healthy!

Super close and fun race!! waves played a big part of it again right from the start!!
Angie was in 4th until her fin broke off on one of the rocks which ended her race just before lap 2!!

No one was going to catch the top 3 they paddled super well and stood out foresure but danny still blew everyone away.

I finished 11th after falling on the way in to the finish line on the smallest white wash, Jake was 13th after being in around 5th most of the way and beau in 14th. It is amazing to see how close the top 20 are and really on the day there could be different people in the top 10!

I think we lost about 8 fins today on the boards just in the Fanatic team!! very rocy and very shollow!!

Of for dinner!!

Great result in 11th there Jacko, thanks for the update and reckon you've earnt that dinner.

Also looks like Annabel caught and passed over 30 male competitors for 29th overall, hard going for the girls taking off second and working through the pack, wonder where she'd finish if started at the front

Well done Rob Eyre with a 4th place in the over 60's and at 68 the oldest in the top 8 in his age group won by Gerry Lopez! Rob never misses a training session and pushes himself and everyone else on the water every time. He's a top bloke and an absolute inspiration for how to live your life and to show us that age is no barrier.

here's a quick blow by blow of how i saw the race from where i was.

Start line was packed water was really shallow i lined up next to Pete D and when the GO was call it was a run across the rocks for 20m before you could start paddling. Start was pretty even with i think Cody out in front the there was a bunch of 5 of us pretty sure i turned in 5th, first turn was crazy as usual and Jake fell in but came out of the turn pretty good still heading down to the first inside turn Kai was in front with Kody Jamie was there next to Kelly then connor ,danny and myself all in a line, Their was a small wave coming from behind which me and danny pushed hard for he got it and i missed it by about one stroke!! i watched him pass everyone in front and get around the inside turn and then to look around and see a wave coming with about 10 guys on it! they hit me right on the turn and the carnage began!

pretty much it was a wrestle for me with Beau, lincon ,Ryan H Eric T for the next lap and a half, i could see ahead Danny Kai and Connor then a gap back to Kelly and then then another gap back to Jake,Jamie Slater and someone else on the 2nd lap Beau and myself and maybe someone else had a small gap on the other guys with us but coming in to the hammer head turn again we look behind and see a wave with all the guys who were behind coming through again and bang another pile up on the inside turn. Last lap and turned the last turn i could hear the crowd cheering as Danny crossed the line but we were still racing as we turn a set wave came and i think there was Beau, Ryan and maybe 2 others on the wave with me we pushed hard to get it and as we got it i could see Jake paddling hard to pick it up as well but he was just in the wrong spot and fell of the back then i look over and Beau is gone!! as i got closer to the beach i was getting ready for a sprint finish as this was for i think 8th through to 12th and then about 20m out i stepped back on my board and slipped straight off!! Could not belive iti Got back on and paddled had so i got to the beach before the guys on the next wave caught me. i just hit the beach ahead of them and had an easy run up the beach!!

My race done, its why i like this type of racing!! Some times the waves can work for you and other times they can make you look silly!

Danny killed it and is going to be super hard to beat today for sure. Off now to get ready for the long distance.

First around the halfway buoy in the distance race is Rob Rojas (unlimited) followed closely by Danny Ching (14') Connor, Kai and Jamie close behind.

Annabelle in front of Candice and Brandi.

4.25 mile to go heading back into a slight head wind apparently.
