It's pathetic....no, it's tragic.

Greenroom continues to count my posts, studying the total as it slowly climbs closer to the magic number(500).

It's sad really, he's become the resident trainspotter of this nerdy forum.

Sincerely
'slave

A study in the not so distant past, in the usa.

trying to find out why there were so many accidents between motorcyclists and cars at intersections where the car did not give way.

the overriding theme of cars drivers was that once eye contact had been made the car driver thinks " he is smaller than me so does not want to get hurt, so will let me go through".

Conclusion for bikers, Don't make eye contact with car driver.

the big little idea needed more study.

turns out that truck drivers when making eye contact with car drivers thought, " he is smaller than me so does not want to get hurt, so will let me go through".

A pecking order seems to be establishing itself but with an anomally.

when a Hells Angel arrives at an intersection, makes eye contact with car, truck, bike, or whatever. All give way to the angel[}:)].

accidents at intersections involving Hells Angels were non existant.

I kite or windsurf depending only on what I feel like doing at the time. From now on I will wear my colours on my wetsuit.

Keep a very close eye out for them.

best winds
Tony L

PS: I have heard a similar augument to the "let them have one beach and they will take them all " somewhere else. Was it McCarthy?

KITERS ,i didnt know there was a rule that stated that kiteres or sailboarders owned a spot . what they are trying to get you to under stand is that because you take up 30m in every direction doesnt give you the right to go any where you want even if you think it does . maybe if you got some manners sharing spots woundnt be a problem .
e.g this seems to happen every time a dozen windsurfers get togeter and busten a few moves along comes a kiter a thinks this must be the only spot on the beach and its right in the middle of that crew, i had better go out . i kite my self and windsurf and would never think of going out in the middle of that . first ,for saftey and second cause you have just piss every one off in one go.use your big head instead of yur little head . and we all might just get along

My dear brothers, it pains me to read some of this..........

Something to cheer you all up Question: Have you guys ever thought how good I'll look when I get my new wardrobe of WindWarrior threads........

Who'll even bother to kite or windsurf when you can just look at me on the beach!

Now hopefully you're all rolling around on the floor asking me to stop "hardie, hardie, Stop, Stop your killing us!", at the mere thought of a hippopotamic ageing hippy trying to look cool in the latest schmik gear!!!!!!!!

Sorry I've absent for a while, too busy sailing.

Kaos you're spot on.... basically what I said 80 - odd posts ago, that a kiter who used to (or still) windsurfs is awwright. Because he understands what we want and respects us, so we respect him (or her). A kiter who picked it up cos he saw it on telly, did just enough time on the river to get going, then went straight to Margies is a bloody menace.

That's what the thread was all about.

And before you get upset *again* 'slave.... think about this. Imagine you have been kiting in a group of 5 mates, same location, for 10 years. Then 5 racing yachts with 15m high masts come in and sail right in amongst you guys every day.... because they can. Trouble is only 2 of them are good, the other 3 are beginners and run thru your lines now and then causing you to wipe out and damage gear............. would you be upset? Because they could go do their thing 500m away and not bother you... but they don't.

'nuff said.

wise words, it is a safety issue not about being selfish.
As I said to start with, its only a matter of time before someone gets hurt down at the point.

Holy crap, the analogies are becoming more bizarre!

First we had the 'bicycle and truck' scenario.
That was so laughable but the wheels fell off that argument.

Now the Mark of Oz has dreamt up a cluster **** of 5 racing yachts with 15m high masts in the surf.
Crikey! Scuttle that idea.

Those racing yachts better have finely foiled winged-keels,
cause when they take the drop and drive hard into the bottom-turn....
well, we wouldn't want any killer spin-out happening in the zone.

And just one last question Mark,
do you truely believe that a newbie kiter who has never sailed in waves before is really going to venture out into the waves of mainbreak??

Nah, I didn't think so.

Yep folks, it's all about selfishness and arrogance.

Learn to share the ocean cause no-one owns it.
(Except of course Flipper, but he don't kite, just bodysurfs.)

I couldn't let that past waveslave, (or read - wavesnake). Your idea of sharing must be alittle different to most. You certainly like to share(snake)most waves. Unless you are on the wave first, then you love a livley "discussion" on the value of sharing that wave.

Gee Paul,
You're hurting man.
Are you still pissed off about that one wave that I grabbed from you 5 years ago?
Get over it, that wave wasn't that great anyway.
You didn't miss out on much.

'slave.
