OK well you equate it to cars, alot of people feel the opposite to you about drag racing and 1/4 mile warriors everywhere cop crap from the circuit crowd who reckon it dosent take any skill to drive in a straight line. For the record i feel the same as you and anyone that feels differently hasnt FELT sub 8 second cars go down the 1/4 (though my own car would have a circuit bias).

So why pay out on qld? So why pick on Gestalt and wanderers that attempts to get people travelling away from the bay? I dont see wavesailing as the top echelon of the sport, I see it as the most promoted but I think it takes just as much to become the top in formula, slalom, speed, freestyle or even IMCO/onedesign as it does in waves. Of all disciplines I have no interest in formula or one design/raceboard but I'm not biased against them (unless they start taking away my racing time ).

If you ever return to queensland and introduce yourself as greenroom, well after you pick yourself up off the ground (jokes ... well it was probably a falling kite bloody things) and you meet dave you will immediately find out that he is one of the most non-serious people you'll ever meet. When I read his profile I too was a little like wtf? but see the humour (Dave if you prove me wrong i'll hunt you down[}:)]- woops thats online homocide). They're only words not acts get to know the person first before you take judgement.

And greenleader it's ok I drink the stuff but I'm young enough to remember how bad it tasted in the first place

Good to see you enjoy senseless violence. If hitting me makes you feel tough or better feel free Besides I'm sure I'll never be at the same sailing spot as you
There is still no humour in having sex with children I dont care who said it. My opinion.

Greenroom, I think your a tad bit full of yourself, stop ****ing your self for 5 mins and think about how stupid you sound. No one actually goes around making such claims even if they are true. I think what your doing is something called narcissism.

quote:
narcissism:
An excessive preoccupation with one’s own personal importance, or with achieving one’s own chosen goals rather than bonding with others, or with associating only with others whom one chooses. Sometimes psychologists associate narcissism with psychopathology and lack of conscience, but this need not be the case. But there may be lack of emotional empathy or bonding with others.

I would just like to announce that the online personality of Notwal is not with us anymore, and that it had nothing to do with me
Come off it greenroom it was a flippin joke, man if you were any more sensitive you'd be wearing a skirt. You seem to be talking alot about sex with children- hmmm 4 times in one thread- now that everyone on seabreeze is being monitored by big brother you can let it rest.

Besides we worship senseless violence... it's called rugby league.
Oh and never sail at the same place, i believe thats unlikely maybe even bad luck but if you like i can send the violence express post with Wim and the other queenslanders that are about to frequent you're fine shores. The green one with excessive self preoccupation and no humour shouldnt be too hard to find.

hey mk, we all know the internet is real, isn't it?

so back to the topic at hand.

me and a mate have got this great idea. it is a windsurfing library.

what we are looking for is as much secondhand gear as we can find. from WALLY'S through to slalom boards and including sails, masts booms extensions etc.

"How it Works"

New comers to the sport and short board beginners borrow the gear from the "library" and use it until they purchase there own gear, decide to borrow something else or a 5 week period expires. if no one else is after the gear then they can borrow the gear again.

The persons that donate the gear to the library remain the owner of the gear. they can request the gear back at anytime and even borrow other gear if they want to try something different.

(an example would be someone who has an old wally but wants to try short board sailing. they could borrow a short board from the library and then lend their wally to the library for someone else to use.)

the conditions would be that the user is expected to carry out any repairs due to damage and look after all gear.
Plus the gear will only be available to members.

The advantages with this idea are that it makes it free for people to enter the sport. allows each individual to go sailing whenever they desire and means that the WindWanderers don't have to buy a trailer to cart all the gear around for people to use at each meet.

that said, we encourage all new comers to get proper lessons before borrowing equipment to make the most of there time.

The idea can also be used for books, dvd's and anythng else that people see fit. The windWanderers will be the librarians as such and help everyone link together to provide the gear. a web page will be set up on the windwanderers site to show what is borrowed and what is available.

To kick the idea off i am offerring the following gear into the library.

1 2000 model 6.2M Naish alana slalom sail
2 2/alloy booms
3 the aloha classic vhs cassette.
4 40cm early 90 speed needle. ()

So if anyone wants to get involved. has some gear out in the back shed that hasn't seen daylight in years or just wants to put something back into the sport then please, please, please help as much as you can. We hope that once we get a pool of gear it will help expand the sport in QLD.

This idea is in it's infancy so if anyone has any other ideas, suggestions etc please don't hesitate to post. we are particularly looking for kids gear as well.

so far had some great offers of gear.

very appreciated.

if there is any other gear out there then please let us know. the library page will be up and running soon...

THE WINDWANDERERS IS ANOTHER DHARMA INITIATIVE

Gestalt,
Great idea. Mind if I pinch it? Got lots of old speed gear in the shed that still works when it gets really windy. I,m up for anything that encourages more people having fun on the water.Latests and greatest gear doesn,t equal more fun.Its just more fun when you go past the latest gear on your 1920 house door with your plastic bag sail flapping in the breeze.

i am definately going to give it a go. i have had people approach me that are interested since posting the idea. so looks like there is support.

mikey100.

that's fair enough. it was a combination of your posts that lead me to my conclusion. i guess i was off the mark.

Kato,

no worries using the idea. if you need any help just let me know. i'm more than willing.

you have my 100% support here Gestalt, fantastic idea.

Granted beginners would benifit from wide boards and soft sails, but who is going to provide that gear? Afterall, most of us here probably did learn on this older gear. I had some great days learning on my tyronsea 380 which by the way others learnt on it before me even. And for those that are on wallys, they get the chance to try a short board from those guys that have donated some.

Once again, fantasic idea.

Put a patch on that before you deflate completely. How ya gonna rig that 11 in less than 2 hours if you're all flaccid.

PS I was never dead. Just didn't want a fight. It was getting personal and I don't enjoy beating up kids. No really. That's not just PC sucking. Its true. Just a few well chosen words and damn, I've made an enemy for life. Pretty soon every kid with a computer wants to have a go and I'm always watchin my back. Lookin behind every post and between every line in the sure knowledge that one day one of 'ems gonna git me.

guys, i have given this a lot of thought.

we are trying to encourage a friendly and safe "family" environment at the WindWanderers meets. i believe some of the comments made by others may cause issues or make others not feel comfortable to participate in the meets. very unfortunate indeed. the obvious ones have been moderated (thanks laurie)

at the end of the day mud sticks, even if it is fabricated,

so i have decided to play my part by deleting my response to those posts.

Good work Justin. I see you have been reading the scriptures?
Let me refer to the gospel according to St Matthew.
In chapter 7 Jesus concludes the Sermon on the Mount-He commands: Judge not.
Verse 3 reads: And why beholdest thou the *mote that is in thy brothers eye, but considerest not the *beam that is in thine own eye?
IMO there is a lesson for all of us here yes/no?
First cast out the beam out of your own eye and then you will see clearly to cast out the mote out of your brothers eye.
*mote- speck, chip or splinter.
*beam- the greek word refers to a wooden beam used in constructing houses.

Gasp! Self censorship is the last resort of the desperate, and self censorship of those harmless inoffensive posts of yours Gestalt is just going too far. Let the record stand. People are going to wonder what was in them and they will only assume the worst. Believe me. Its a mistake.

Anyway its better to have a bit of interesting push and shove and visceral grunge than a totally anodyne and polite forum. What we need is a whipping boy - someone we can attack full bloodedly and totally destroy. Then we pick on someone else. Ha no one is safe on the forum of death. Hmmm... who's first?

Will this ever get back on topic?

Gestalt, re the library, are you planning to set up on the wind wanderers web site a photo album where we can upload pics of the gear that we want to donate? Im thinking a photo of each individual item, ie. board, sail(s), mast, boom, fin etc that way parts can be assembled with other parts from other suppliers in the library?
I am able to help create such a system for the web site, I am a web developer after all! In the mean time should we be asking for people that have offered gear to detail the gear in email and also supply photos if possible? I reckon we need to start getting a list together and fully documented so we can get an idea of the array of gear that may be possibly available. Your probably already working on this I guess, but I am just offering my help if it helps

I would think that a central repository would be the best bet, that way you could roll up (arranged date/time) and organise the gear for interested people, would be easier then tracking it all down from the owners homes. Perhaps WW could rent a mini storage for the library to keep it netural for everyone and less stress for the person that might other wise be responsible for storing the gear? I am willing to help finance such a storage option. What does everyone think?

What is the situation with insurance and liability on this library gear? Ie if someone loans from the library and hurts themself is the actual owner of the gear safe ? I guess the people that borrow from the library will have to sign a waiver etc?
