Can I suggest, and I speak for the planet here, we put Brucey and Brittany into a space ship with a box of dildos, and then send them into the sun. Those two have shown what a bunch of over paid fat cats the court system is. I'm sick of seeing them in the news. I wish there was a firefox plugin, that blocked anything to do with them both. They have got more air time than Epstein.

xtr3m3: Maybe something to consider if boards are in short supply in Europe. 2nd wind (Perth, AU) have a few 2nd hand boards in your volume.

Buying overseas used to be out of the of the question. But it isn't now, at least not from an AU perspective. The international couriers are excellent (DHL, Fedex etc).

It's amazing that the sails in 1983 were broom handles with hankys, and in 1985/6, they were within 80% of what we have now. Extreme innovation rate back then. Cool web site randaj38 :)

xtr3m3: Sorry if I'm rude to ask, but how heavy are you ?. Are you a small guy starting out on a big board ?, or an absolute ginormous guy and then some ?

Mark: You can't get worse than this damage IMO. If this guy wants a quick fix to make it last the season ("if he takes it easy"), would epoxy injections along the break work ? - to get him out the sht ?. Also doing the rails as well. Of course, this board would need to be chucked in bin after the season, but this is to get him through the season. What you all suggest above is major surgery and down time. This guy needs make hay while it's sunny. Totally understand that. Boards are not exactly easy to get now days.

Pauly: I started on a 150L freeride in 2008. I was about 70 kg at the time. I was on that for 9 months, then went down to a 115L freeride board. A year later, I was on a 85L free style wave board. But, due to my progression, I probably could have gone straight to a sub 100L board if I wanted to. But, I just took the forum's advice., and went gently, gently etc. A 100L board will end up being your light wind board once you are advanced rider.

Good thing you learnt the basics on the 145. This will increase progression IMO. Depending on your skill level and natural ability, you might be ok on a sub 100L wave board. But keep that big board. It's probably modern, and you can put anything on those JP boards. Ride it with a 5m wave sail will be fine. I think the battleship/small wave sail combo is a hoot, and works for small guys. I got a mate's 135L board going with a 4.2 wave sail once to win an argument. Did a few planing exit gybes around him to really rub it in. If you want to learn heli-tack at some point, then it will be heaps easier to learn on your battle ship, than something that sinks. Good luck 😎

Good prospective on it. Don't be scared of it etc. The aircraft is more rated than us. But, mine is deep seated. I get the same effect when a passenger in a car, and I look down to read my phone or a book. The reference plane of the brain gets rotated 90 degrees. Some acceleration and braking, and acceleration again, and then Blluuurp !

Because of their altitude, and close to the equator, I naturally assumed it was. At any rate, the pilots did not see it.

Clear Air Turbulence. This terrifies me. I've never coped with Z forces too well. I've had some bad turbulence over the Bay of Bengal when flying to Europe in my 20s. It felt like God hitting the plane with a crow bar. Stomach goes to head. But, the incident below probably makes my incident look like a walk in the park. Painted in breakfast.

That makes sense. On slalom or freeride boards, I sometimes take my rear foot out and place it forward next to the strap to get that bit better pointing angle.

Ok. I suppose a kite is in spinnaker mode in an up draft ?, and not it's most efficient angle ?

It's come up a few times here, but that female paraglider that got caught in an updraft in regional NSW in the 2000's springs to mind. She got taken up 11km or so by a storm cloud. That SBS doco put the fear in me.

Lost my Suunto with this band - as only 1 pin needs to get dislodged, then it's gone it's a new technology problem the old army style strap is one piece so if you lose a pin you still have the watch attached

Garmin don’t use standard watch pins, they are thicker and stronger. The Fenix 7 and later use really thick pins, actually bloody difficult to remove.

Yeah agree. Finger tip goes white getting them out.

I hate booties as well. F'ing hate em. There are a few spots here in SA that booties are a must, or it potential defection and hospital stay. Yes, I find feet in booties get more damaged than without. I have my front straps as loose as possible, but without the risk of leg falling through. Near end of run, I wiggle feet out of straps to ensure fast gybes without feet getting jammed. Good luck :)

Agreed Meh. But the Internet has had multiple deaths over time IMO. Once upon a time there was AARNET and FIDONET. Different user bases/demographies, but both very bleeding edge, fun and communal. When I released software, my files would contain my full contact details. I would never do that how (I would not release software now). But back then, I would get letters and emails from all around the world from users using my software, often including a patch for bug fixes or improvements, because most users back then were developers/programmers. That was up until about 2002.
