The stance that will revolutionize stand up paddling

“
You don’t see people walking like crabs do ya, people walk forward, with the direction in front of them. No-ones walking sideways, we need to take this back. We didn’t walk out of a cave sideways, so we’re certainly not going to surf sideways.”

Kyron Rathbone is one funny dude, last month we found him wearing a basketball outfit while he spoke about barrels in Indonesia, this month he’s going to change the world, one stand up paddler at a time.

To do so, he’s put a call out for all stand up paddlers to go forwards, one foot on the left, one on the right, like you would when doing all those other cool sports like rollerblading, skiing and kneeboarding. He says the benefits are a much improved core workout, added speed down the wave face and a dramatic improvement in style while stand up paddle surfing.

Who are we to argue, he’s Kyron ‘Ratbones’ Rathbone after all! Legendary stand up paddler from Tasmania, who conquered Shipsterns Bluff, and pulls into un-makable barrels in Indonesia…

Go on, you know you want to try it! Next time you’re out for a surf, go it forwards, like all the cool kids are going to be doing next season.
