Travis Grant breaks M2O's 'Unbreakable' 4hr Barrier

Last week we wrote about the NSP gearing up to take the Molokai to Oahu by storm, but nobody expected that the world record would be broken in conditions that were good, but not world class. If anyone was going to do it, it was always going to be Australian Travis Grant.

We're going to continue claiming Travis as 'ours', even though he now lives in Hawaii, but that's beside the point. The battle for the top spot this year was closer than ever, with Connor Baxter and Grant neck and neck across the whole channel. It wasn't until they approached Oahu when Travis Grant used that slick new NSP Unlimited board to gain a commanding lead. Nobody could catch him as he rounded the point and picked up a couple of runners to the finish line - not even the stopwatch. That magic number, 3 hours-and-something was left on the watch, a world record for the crossing.

3 hours, 59 minutes and 52 seconds. Travis said he left nothing out there, not a scrap of energy to do it, and with only 8 seconds to spare, few could argue with that! After 5 years of paddling the channel, and no finish worse than 2nd place. Who else could have done it though?

Watch the highlights reel below to see Trav's finish, and the rest of the event winners mid-channel and crossing the line.
