ONCE IN A BLUE MOON

Alex Mussolini "It's the best conditions I've seen in Tenerife in the six years since I moved to the island."

Every now and again the wind and wave Gods coincide to produce epic conditions. One month ago that's exactly what happened in Tenerife and Alex Mussolini (Tabou / Gaastra) was on hand to take full advantage of the 50 knot winds and fantastic waves. In fact the conditions were so good that Mussolini himself believes that this was the best day he's seen since he moved to the island six years ago.

The Spaniard is rightly held in high esteem within the windsurfing fraternity, thanks to his radical wave riding, which is arguably some of the best in the world. Mussolini narrowly missed out on being crowned the PWA Wave World Champion in 2013, as Marcilio 'Brawzinho' Browne (Goya Windsurfing / MFC) just pipped him to the post. However, last season still proved to be Mussolini's most successful to date - second - and it looks as though he will be challenging for top honors again based on his latest video.

The Vice-World Champion nails massive one-handed, one-footed backloops, but it's his wave riding which we personally enjoy the most. Mussolini is renowned for his explosive frontside wave 360s and he certainly doesn't disappoint here, combine this with fluid turns and smooth takas and it's easy to see why he is one of the top sailors in the world.
