Reflections From Cabo Verde

Reflections From Cabo Verde

Yann Sorlut dwells on the legendary Cabo Verde PWA World Cup.

Competing in Cabo Verde seems to have had a profound effect on literally all the top 32 riders lucky enough to have taken part in 2009's inspirational opening event of the World Tour Season.

Photos, video footage and quotes galore continue to emerge from all corners of the world. Sharing these with you, here's the musings from Yann Sorlut, 17th placed rider at the event. For those debating at trip to the wind drenched archipelago, we advise you to take note of Mr. Sorlut's thoughts on the Cabo Verde rocks?

"Cabo Verde is beautiful, but be careful of the rocks! I didn't break anything in two years, but the last day of my trip it happened! Bad timing on an aerial and straight to the rocks! One mast, a 5.0m and a board...broken! The most amazing was the board. Broken in the back pads like if you cut it with a big knife. I was lucky not to have my foot in the straps when it happened.

About the result, I'm happy. My heats were better and better. My last one was ok: wave-riding with two aerials, but the judges preferred the style of Jason and Marcilio. Anyway I'm quite happy to end the contest in joint 17th place with Jonas, Victor and Levi. I hope to go again there next year!
