when you look at the history of Iran from the 1950's its a sad tale of intervention gone wrong, all for the oil revenue. The USA doesn't learn from all these interventions that turn into a cluster f*ck

You are wrong - they have learned from their interventions.

Anti war trump supporter. Haha!

Mr Trump is business man in first place. I am sure that for the money spent on Middle East he could win any further election while spending those at own country on own citizens needs. While building roads and infrastructure, promoting business and agriculture, space innovation, health care, real estate and housing. Why not leave Middle East to their own devices and after few years all people there will be drawn to western like life style anyway? Then they will turn back and spent all the money from oil on new Iphones and electric cars instead of missiles and bombs.

They are consummate liars.

As are the Arabs.

They do not care if humanity is wiped out. The reason being that from the cradle they are taught to focus on the notion of the afterlife where they get their 72 virgins etc, etc.

They don't know how to enjoy this life so in the alleged afterlife they will fail too.

Why did man invent religion??

I don't know how accurate this is but it certainly applies:

*Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, addressed the Duma, (Russian Parliament), and gave a speech about the tensions with minorities in Russia:*

*"In Russia, live like Russians. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in Russia, to work and eat in Russia, it should speak Russian, and should respect the Russian laws. If they prefer Sharia Law, and live the life of Muslim's then we advise them to go to those places where that's the state law.*

*"Russia does not need Muslim minorities. Minorities need Russia, and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell 'discrimination'. We will not tolerate disrespect of our Russian culture. We better learn from the suicides of America, England, Holland, and France, if we are to survive as a nation. The Muslims are taking over those countries and they will not take over Russia. The Russian customs and traditions are not compatible with the lack of culture or the primitive ways of Sharia Law and Muslims.*

*"When this honorable legislative body thinks of creating new laws, it should have in mind the Russian national interest first, observing that the Muslims Minorities Are Not Russians."*

*The politicians in the Duma gave Putin a five minute standing ovation.*

Google Iranian Parliament building. The symbology is in your face.

All these countries have the illusion of national sovereignty but in reality they take their orders from the Big Boys.

There was a book written called the Grand Chessboard that outlines their plans.

History past and future is contrived in my honest opinion.

Here is the biggest reason many see war as a business and therfore a charade.....

www.military.com/daily-news/2019/07/16/esper-refuses-recuse-himself-raytheon-matters-secdef-confirmation-hearing.html

Army Secretary Mark Esper appeared headed to easy confirmation as defense secretary until late in his Senate Armed Services Committee hearing Tuesday morning, when he was confronted by Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts.

In heated exchanges, Warren demanded to know whether Esper would recuse himself on Defense Department decisions involving Raytheon, decline to seek waivers that would allow him to weigh in on Raytheon matters and agree to refrain from lobbying for four years after he leaves office.

War is a business...(including all types of war) ...what rock have you been living under? Always was and always will be.
Big dogs trying to screws the small dogs. Big fcks small. Simple.

and just leave the Middle East be ... well history, even recent history such as WW2 and the rise of the nazis years before their crusade to invade and own Europe would not support that theorem.

Small dogs always want to be big dogs so they can Fck small dogs. And on and on it goes.

So Iran has backed down after firing off a few fireworks.
Trump has announced sanctions will be ramped up. This will play out well and the Iranian will lose big time.

Have a look what's happening internally in Iran at the moment. 1500 protester killed last month, 7000 arrested and probably being tortured.
Tough sanctions hopefully will push their regime to breaking point. Read these two articles.

No mate, just an ability to judge what's quality journalism and what's sky news. You also have that ability but choose not to accept it because you're so wrapped up in conservative politics that you either have to lie to yourself or lie to others through political conspiracies.

Of course you'd say that about a left leaning newspaper.
and like all lefties you attack the person rather than the topic if you disagree with them

Here's an interesting take on the situation:
www.dailykos.com/stories/2020/1/6/1909816/-S-gets-real-now-Trump-properties-targeted?utm_campaign=trending

Hesameddin Ashena, who is an adviser to Iranian president Hassan Rouhani, tweeted a Forbes article listing Trump's estimated net worth and a list of Trump properties including Trump branded properties. Then he tweeted "We have ZERO problems with the American people. We even achieved deals with previous US administrations. Our sole problem is Trump. In the event of war, it is he who will bear full responsibility."

The implication is that they will go after Trump personally. Just putting it out there makes all those properties preferred targets for any would be Muslim terrorist. So if you're contemplating staying at Mar a Lago or visiting Trump Tower or any of his golf courses, you might want to reconsider.

It'll be interesting to see if the message gets across.

holy guacamole said..He didn't win the popular vote. He won on the technicality of electoral college votes.

It doesn't matter how you wrap it - "technically" is the same as saying that under the system governing how the USA votes - Trump legally won the election,

And as much as I dislike Scomo [and distrust practically all politicians], I am not going to whine about it being unfair that Scomo is our P.M. - just because his mob got more votes than the opposition.

Trump won / Scomo won / Brexit Boris won / Putin won - either harden up and live with it, or harden up and do something [legally] constructive instead of whining.

If your judgement of good journalism concludes that the Washington Post fits the bill you are more stupid than I thought.

The Wapo as you put it is just another upmarket echo chamber for US imperialism.

There are virtually no national papers left which are not compromised by intelligence assets guiding then what to print.

LOL you didn't have a point to make. You made yet another of your stereotyped facile comments which elicited exactly the sort of comment it deserved.

From since I can remember all you've done is the same. Facile comments and harassing Mark who would be justified in getting you banned for it were he not ten times the man you profess to be.

Yes, very said, innocent live lost and it seems that culprit is similar this time too.It is common practise for Israeli and US military planes to hide behind civilian airplanes in order to avoid detection by enemy radars.I bet that "stealthy " drone or even fighter was operating in vicinity at that time.Radar and anti aircraft defense systems may properly detect threat ,, but then unable do discriminate between civilian and military jet hiding meters away.Close up video may show even if our civilian airplane shoot out flares in the seconds before impact.! I doubt the US will apologize to Canadian brothers this time too.If there is any conversation in the cockpit about military jet assisting passenger flights it may sounds like that: "O look we we military assistance, our fighter jets protecting our convoy. good we are safer now "

www.foxnews.com/us/fighter-jets-shadow-passenger-planes-to-detroit-nyc-over-suspicious-activity
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1261744/RAF-fighter-jets-shadow-passenger-flights-fears-grow-terror-attack.html

Obviously while pushed to the wall , by evidences military could acknowledge shadowing passenger planes in this instance but only for their own safety not to gather intelligence during the conflict time. What next? Nuclear submarines hiding under cruise ships?

Yep , it sounds good. But I doubt that withstand critical and statistical analysis since end of WWII.
For any given period. But at least sound and looks good on mass media.well .
Maximum pressure.Lets imagine what would happen if we do apply maximum pressure on the rat nest, or other nasty pets. They will probably try to escape first rather the bite you. Now you have a spread, everywhere. If you are proper pest destroyer you know well that you need to bait cockroaches or ants back to nest. Give them something to stay where are born and feel safe.
